Malakoff bench details.

If you have been down to St Ives recently, you might have seen the benches we made for the refurbished Malakoff. Everyone appears to be enjoying the new space. Let me know what you think of it.

The oak from is Grown in Britain certified, and we have left it bare to silver naturally with the weather.

I first leaned some CAD on my aeronautics degree taught by a man called Mr Sad. At the time my friend, Karen, wrote a short song about how learning CAD with Mr Sad was bad and made her mad.
Sometimes I feel the same. I would no doubt prefer to be sketching with a pencil or drawing with pen on paper. But for this recent project making benches for The Malakoff it has been invaluable to make sure all the disparate elements, stone, metal and wood are made accurately and will tie up when assembling on site.

I love Falmouth. Arriving here 33 years ago I fell in love with the beauty of the Fal Estuary. I love the town too, not just because of it's beautiful location, but because it's a working town full of real people getting things done.... It has a fascinating history largely due to it's unique geography. This is why I made "Ria", a coffee table depicting the deep river channel of the Fal estuary as it was before sea levels rose at the end of the last ice age.

And so at a time like this I am in a quandary. The planning application to expand Falmouth Docks and dredge the harbour has some potential benefits. More money, jobs, growth, progress....

But is it all too much when we are facing a climate and biodiversity crisis? Can nature handle it? Are we harming the environment beyond repair?

At this point, I'm siding with nature. We can't afford any more damage to the environment on which we all depend. If the weather this summer is anything to go by, then we need to put on the brakes! So if any investment and redevelopment is to take place there need to be guarantees that the environment will be safe.

One of my bench spaces has come up for rental in the Woykshop. This would suit a furniture maker, or joiner on a longer term basis. The woykshop is well equipped and maintained and great value at £500 monthly. Well situated in Falmouth on the waterside. Message me or phone for more details and to arrange a visit.

I need some more space in the woykshop, so this weekend i have this lovely coffee table on sale as part of my . It is made from some beautiful wide waney edged oak from a log I bought up in Oxfordshire many years ago. The grain follows through into the legs, sometimes known as a waterfall joint. Underneath we have a sycamore frame for support.

Originally £1800, it's 30% off at £1260. If you can tell me what the little white flowers are under the table I'll take another £60 off. (not the daisy's, the other ones)

📸 Shot yesterday morning in my meadow.

excited to be opening my studio over the next two long weekends for you all.

We've had a big public project on the go, so not much time for new work, but among other things you can see one of my little loops tables in progress that Charlie Woyka helped me with.

Do drop in to have a look at some of my wares, or discuss that piece of furniture you've been thinking about commissioning.
