Wall to wall storage, lit from within.
The Milltimber grid of open cabinets runs the length of the dining wall, each one backlit so glass and ceramics glow against the warm oak.
Everyday pieces become a quietly changing and satisfying display.
Built to hold a lifetime of collected things, designed to evoke memories and to make them look their best.
Designed, made and fitted by Angus+Mack for our client in Aberdeenshire.

A double flight, rising through a triple-height void. There’s nothing under it but light.
For this new-build home we made the Milltimber staircases from kiln-dried oak: two flights climbing through a triple-height space.
By adding fitted balconies and frameless glass balustrades we create a unique design that carried daylight to every floor.
Each solid block of oak tread cantilevers from the wall, meaning that glass is the only thing between you and the drop.
Structural steel in the adjacent wall was built into the Angus+Mack design from day one, working in close collaboration with the project’s engineers and architects.

Take the tray straight out of the oven and set it down. No trivet. No second thought.
We paired the olive ash with Corten steel, a material that brings a durable, subtly industrial edge to all that warm timber. It shrugs off heat, so dishes come straight from the oven onto the surface.
Up close it’s all contrast: the soft, chocolate grain of the ash against the dark, weathered face of the steel.

There’s nothing holding this staircase up. At least, nothing you can see.
The treads are solid Scottish olive ash, cantilevered from the wall on a concealed structure with a single pane of glass as the only balustrade.
The stair reads as a stack of timber hovering in the light.

This cabinet door is taller than a doorway, and it’s one single, unbroken board.
We chose Scottish olive ash for this kitchen: a timber with gentle character and warm, chocolate tones.
We crafted the doors, some up to 3.2m, from single timber boards so that the grain and visual appeal runs unbroken from top to bottom.
This contrasts with most kitchens where shorter lengths are joined.
Look down a run and the figure simply continues, door after door.
