This beautiful roll top tambour bureau is about 100 years old.
It was handmade by my customers great grandfather for his grandma. She was called “Dyllis”
My customer didn’t particularly want it, but didn’t have the heart to get rid of it… so ☺️ I just couldn’t say no to the challenge..
So,,, introducing “Dyllis”

Front door put in place, drawers taken out.. mirrors installed in the bottom area for all those bottles of booze, pull out serving area all jazzed up, LED’s on the backs exterior to make her glow..
A great little cocktail bar ….. 100 years later 👋

Introducing “Ruby”
Her first owner Ruby would have been 100 years old this year…
So this beauty had to be named after her..

The restoration process of Ruby has given me hours & hours of tears & frustration.
From the veneer coming away from every edge….everywhere! Then filling & filling everywhere, then blending & blending with every wood colour out there to match the veneer has made my eye sight worse than before…😩
But this is why I love what I do,,, from the process of finding that special piece of history, seeing its beauty behind years of celebrations, then neglect. Stripping it bare, taking it back to its bare bones, then starting all over again..
I see the nick’s and dents of years of parties, I think of the artist who made it, who were they? How did they feel when they put that last screw in and closed the doors and Stood back to admire their work… just like I have done today… Did they feel so proud of themselves like I did today ?
Ruby has taken my heart ♥️

I cannot wait to see her in her new home soon ♥️ that is creating for her clients!
