No two Suar tables are quite alike.

Each tabletop is crafted from a single slab of wood, preserving the naturally curved live edges, flowing grain and variations in colour that make every piece distinctive.

Rather than shaping the wood into something uniform, the design works with its natural character. The result is furniture that feels sculptural without trying too hard, a statement piece that brings warmth, texture and individuality to a space.

From dining tables to desks and coffee tables, explore the Suar collection and find a piece that speaks to you.

The workshop is only ever the beginning…

The best part comes later.
Seeing each solid wood dining table, breakfast bar and desk settle into the spaces they were made for.

Every home is different.
Every room has its own style.

And that’s exactly why every piece is made to order, whether in oak, walnut, rustic redwood or suar.

Here are just a few of the homes our furniture has found its way into recently ✨

Thinking about your own space? We’d be happy to help you find the right size, wood and finish.

One table. Four homes. Because it doesn’t belong to just one aesthetic.

That’s the point.

Oak is one of those rare materials that shifts with everything around it, you don’t style the table, you style the space around it.

Modern Minimalist - paired with clean lines, neutral tones, and simple dining chairs, it disappears into calm structure and negative space.

Scandinavian - softened with light woods, textured fabrics, and natural light, it adds warmth without heaviness.

Modern Country - styled with rustic chairs, ceramics, and layered textures, it feels grounded, homely, and lived-in.

Contemporary Luxury - with sculptural seating, richer materials, and stronger contrasts, it becomes understated presence, not display.

Same table. Different language.

That’s what makes solid oak quietly versatile, it doesn’t define the room. It adapts to it.

Some parts of the process are obvious.
Others happen quietly in the background but make all the difference.

Cleaning glue lines.
Pre-sanding prep.
Filling small imperfections.
Hand sanding.
Softening the edges.
Branding the underside.

They’re not the dramatic moments, but they’re part of what turns timber into a finished solid wood dining table, desk or conference table.

The details may be small. Skipping them was never really an option.

Not all wood furniture is the same.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with veneer, for some homes, budgets and short-term spaces, it can make perfect sense. But it behaves very differently to solid timber over time.

A solid wood dining table can be sanded, refinished and restored for years to come. Scratches become part of the story, not necessarily the end of the piece. Veneer, on the other hand, is far less forgiving once the surface layer is damaged.

There’s also a difference you tend to notice without immediately realising it: the weight, texture and natural variation of solid timber.

No two pieces of solid oak, walnut or rustic wood furniture will ever look exactly alike and that’s part of what makes them feel timeless.

Furniture is always an investment, whether large or small.

The real question is usually: do you want something for right now, or something you’ll still want to live with years from now?

The most satisfying part of the process?
Watching the oil bring the grain to life.

We finish our tables using a linseed oil–based finish from Rubio Monocoat rather than lacquer.

It enhances the natural character of the wood instead of covering it, especially on solid walnut, where the depth and movement in the grain really start to appear.

It’s also a far more practical finish for everyday living.
If scratches or marks ever appear over time, oil-finished solid wood furniture is much easier to refresh and maintain without needing to completely strip the surface.

Not all wood tables are made the same.

Some are designed to fill a space.
Others are designed to stay in it.

At Ashford Blake, we focus on what you don’t always see at first glance: the material underneath, the way it’s built, and how it will feel years from now, not just on delivery day.

Because a table isn’t just where you eat or work.
It becomes the surface of everyday life, slowly collecting meaning as it goes.

If you’ve ever wondered what actually makes handmade furniture different, this is it.

Spring has a way of shifting how we use our homes ☀️

Doors open more often, light stays longer, and spaces (indoors and out) start to feel like they’re meant to be used.

All of our solid wood tables and garden furniture are made to order in our workshop, whether in oak, walnut, rustic redwood, suar or iroko.

It means a little more time upfront, but something that’s made properly, for your space.

If you’re thinking about outdoor dining tables or updating your space for the months ahead, now is usually the right moment to start.

Closing the first quarter of the year with a few of our favourite deliveries.

It’s been a busy start of the year, with a few quiet changes happening behind the scenes and as spring settles in, it’s the time when homes start to shift too.

Here’s a little inspiration of how solid wood dining tables, desks and statement pieces in oak, walnut and rustic redwood can shape a dining room, kitchen or workspace. 💡
