I'm doing the final sanding of the dining chair prototype at last, then it's on to finishing and upholstery. I think I might stain it black... 🤔
Also, first shot in my home workshop, which is nearly up and running!

I've been working on a prototype dining chair for a while now and have just got to the dry fit stage where a bunch of bits of wood finally turn into a real object!

A keepsake box in lacquered straw marquetry, inspired by the ancient Japanese art of urushi lacquerware.
This one has been a long time in the making! It's been one of those projects that fought me at every turn and taught me that diving in to try several new techniques in one go probably isn't the most sensible thing to do! But here we are, and amazingly, it turned out just as I hoped it would in the end.
It is currently available in my Etsy store (link in my bio). I'll be posting some build videos in the coming days, so keep a look out for those...

Having a go at a bit of hand sketching for once, instead of Sketchup'ing... Definitely a lot more relaxing than staring at a computer screen!

If you were wondering what happened to that dovetailed box I teased a few months back, well here it is!
This is a jewellery box I made for my wonderful wife for our 5th wedding anniversary. It's made from walnut and iroko, with a little sapele accent in the bottom to evoke the feeling of a sunrise.

Throwback to my very first solo commission, nearly 10 years ago!
This was a side table in beech and walnut with some flamed maple veneer on the top for extra chatoyance 😀 I was experimenting with inlays at the time for a guitar I was making, so I thought I'd throw one in there too!
