Our Chief Furniture Designer & Craftsman ⚒️✨

This is Johno; the talent behind James Joy! Our Chief Furniture Designer & Craftsman, our business was built and established around his capable hands. Johno studied Architecture and Product Design at University, and has had a natural affinity to woodworking since he was young. His first furniture piece was built at age 16 (a solid ash curved coffee table with glass top, highly complex to make as required steaming & bending wood. It's stunning and still sits in pride of place at his Parents home).

Johno perfected his craft over many years and continued to design, make and build bespoke furniture on the side for his own home as well as commissions for friends and family. Until eventually - after being told relentlessly he should do this professionally - he knew he was ready and skilled enough to build luxury furniture for client homes, interior design projects and commercially. And so James Joy Ltd was born...✨

January Feels 📅✨

How is it nearly the end of January already?! After spending most of the month getting our ducks in a row for a successful year ahead and the weekend on our 2026 strategy, we are feeling a bit less of the January blues and more of the New Me Energy!

On reflection, 2025 was definitely a transitional year for us as we moved away from our small product business, stopped focusing on Ecommerce or traditional retail, and moved back towards our main vision for James Joy; Bespoke furniture and interior design partnerships! This year we can really focus on and realise that vision - we can't wait for what's in store! ✨

We're thrilled to be celebrating our 2nd birthday, and all that's come with it! We've learnt so much in our first couple of years in business. We have recently made the decision to refocus our business model towards our core expertise and passion as was always the intention for James Joy Ltd; a luxury bespoke furniture design, build and restoration business with a Yorkshire and UK-wide client base as well as having key partnerships with award winning Interior Designers across the region.

At James Joy we believe that furniture should do more than serve a purpose; it should tell a story. Every now bespoke piece we create is built from scratch in our Yorkshire based workshop and handcrafted with precision, care and a deep respect for timeless design.
