The supreme by
Ong-Ard Architects.
Architect Ong-ard Satrabhandhu chose the unassuming architecture of the centuries-old vernacular Chinese dwellings as a source of inspiration. A carefully orchestrated sequence of courtyards, a studied composition of light and dark, open and closed outdoor spaces achieve a true sense of place that expresses serenity and mystery. The architecture and landscape design of Rachamankha celebrates local Lanna historical heritage, climate and traditional building practices of the Northern Thai region.

Handcrafted architectural English oak Ziggurat cabinet or dry bar.
Thick shouldered oak legs with stepped feet. Sizeable toughened safety glass adjustable height shelves. The main surfaces and construction in the finest English quarter-sawn oak, brown pippy oak door panels with inlaid brass strip accent joint pins. The brass detailing is optional.
The back is traditionally panelled in the same select quarter-sawn oak.
A design of substance with interesting angles and shadows from all viewpoints.
Genuinely handcrafted in England using traditional cabinetry skills.
This version has been finished using Osmo oil, which gives a highly durable finish with a subtle hue that is silk to the touch.

A substantial piece of furniture that is built to last.
Paul’s great skill and attention to detail is clear to see.

The London Art Fair is a tremendous gathering of galleries showing their wares. It can be overwhelming but well worth taking your time over. Amongst the artwork you will also find a nice collection of very interesting pieces of furniture. The show is now over but set it in your calendars for next year.

One piece was from a house (2 Willow rd. A must visit) just around the corner from our place in Highgate……

Erno Goldfinger 1902 - 1987
Armchair, model no. A58
1937
Painted bent plywood
Goldfinger’s pared-back armchair was designed in the heyday of Functionalism, a movement that gained new impetus in Hampstead as proponents like Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer settled in the area. fleeing fascist persecution in Eurone
Distinctive is the use of deep red and teal-grey paint on the piece’s horizontal and vertical planes. These colours also articulate the structural elements of 2 Willow Road’s interiors, making the chair a miniature expression of the architectural principles of the entire house

The second image is a work by Andrew Clausen.
Slab-study, Landscape/vector V1
Fibre reinforced cast concrete and graphite.

It is rather fitting that this tiny 16th century print by Lucas Van Leyden is of St Simon. Simon the apostle is the patron saint of woodworkers, saw workers, tanners, woodcutters, and curriers (leather specialists).
Next to St Simon is a new cabinet design (more on that to follow shortly), a standing spoon by .svenningsen and sycamore vase by
