I went to the Freud museum with Ellis last weekend and there is just so much to share that it'll need to be in parts. Even after 42 years as a mental health nurse, I had no idea the museum even existed until Ellis started studying psychoanalysis. And for me, it was a combination of all the things I love and care about. Freud loved antiquities and collected them all his life, his daughter Anna collected some of the most stunning painted furniture (more of that in part 2). Best of all I got to see the famous couch and study where all the foundational work of talking therapy began. I embarrassingly got tearful as soon as I walked in there. As well as being a beautiful house it held an energy of 2 people, Freud and his daughter Anna who dedicated their lives to healing others and we all need a bit of that.
So worth a visit if you're ever in Finchley

We were up and out early this morning to avoid the inescapable London heat, what I wouldn't do for a lie in.
Me hobbling on an as yet undiagnosed foot injury which Django typically had absolutely no empathy for ( I thought dogs were supposed to sense these things and act like they cared) but no, at almost 10 he still behaves like a teenager on steroids. But he did let me stop momentarily to take some photos as the light was so lovely.
I'm now resting my foot with an ice pack and he's slouching in the garden keeping an eye on things.
I'm hoping to be taking photographs and listing more lovely vintage items later today, dodgy foot permitting.

If you look closely you may catch sight of the very rare Restoratio Antiqua emerging from hiding. I don't often show up on camera but i'm tentatively starting on some small pieces of furniture again and I have a few new followers to say hello to.
I found this small 1930's table hidden under a shelf in my local charity shop so I dragged it out and started a little restoration project. It was in a bit of a sorry state, covered in splatters of white paint, yes I know I should have before and after photos but you'll have to trust me on this one, I was disorganised. The oak had seen better days but nothing that a bit of a sanding and some premium Gilboys wax couldn't sort out. The antique gold wax has brought back a lovely rich shine to it. The cane top was luckily in pretty good nick for it's age.
A perfectly sized statement piece that would work as a low coffee table, a side table next to a favourite armchair or a decorative surface for books and plants.

I seem to have acquired an entire fleet of these German salt glazed pitchers. Every time I went out sourcing I seemed to come across another one and I just couldn't stop! There's something about the chunky, rustic grey stoneware and the cobalt blue scrolls that draw me in every time but I have 7 now and I need to stop. Is anyone else guilty of hoarding specific vintage treasures or is it just me?

A bit of Vintage German Pottery, always a winner. Beautiful cobalt blue and salt glazed.
I have 5 of these, collected over the last few months, all in great condition and will be on the website tomorrow.

Fun facts about swans. Did you know they can fly to around 27,000 feet, almost as high as Everest.
Also, contrary to the idea that they mate for life, they do actually have a 6% divorce rate. If they aren't able to have cygnets, they just go their seperate ways and look for another partner!

Had to use a fair bit of the old elbow grease on this in the end but didn't it shine up well?
Antique silver plated Bon Bon dish made by the Alexander Clarke Company, London. Made with Welbeck plate, considered to be one of the finest silver plates of the time, used in posh hotels and even posher homes. These were used at the table to serve bon-bons, sweethearts or small cakes etc.

Often a difficult question for me. This piece is absolutely filthy so will be cleaned before listing. Silver often looks best cleaned up to my eye. Let me know your thoughts. Do you like it with a natural worn patina or newly cleaned and bright?
