Greetings all, today is finally a day for some news and views on the recent activities of myself (Mr Lowe) and my colleagues..
As some of you may know I've been out of action for a fair while waiting for surgery but I'm pleased to say that I've been screwed and bolted back together now (quite literally) and am recovering after a few 'hiccups' along the way. A genuine case of 'any landing...' to steal a phrase. So now would be the time for my physiotherapy to begin in earnest. If the hospital ever contact me that is...
To that end (physiotherapy, or rather lack thereof) I decided to help the rest of the team out at this years Harvest Festival over at Capol Manor. I've increasingly felt the urge to see how things stood at an anvil, which they did, for a couple of hours. I am seriously out of condition but it didn't entirely cripple me either. A good day in all. Lizzie made the Blacksmiths Trophy this time and I'm happy to say I thought the end result was wonderful. If I get hold of a photo I'll share it with you for comments..
I've also been working towards finding a space and setting up the forge again somewhere. After initial correspondence we've now had face to face meetings with several potential partner organisations and the results have been very positive. We've still a couple to chase up so whilst I can't make mention of any details (until things have been signed) I can say I'm confident that we should have ourselves a new home by Christmas,
Our plans don't stop there either....
Regards,
Mr Lowe
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all from Artisan Ironwork :D
Mr Lowe is hoping to be back to work some time in the new year if those lovely people at the NHS ever get around to performing the surgery he needs (rods and screws to fuse three vertibra).
In the meantime Mr Pace should still be available for commissions.

Mr Lowe, lying outrageously to the man from Auntie.....
The most future-proof profession? BBC News talks to Ian Lowe, a blacksmith who teaches other people an ancient art he believes to be future-proof.

Check out this lovely video about City Farms and urban growing spaces. Oh yeah, I'm in it too cooking up a storm at Capol Manor's Harvest Festival :)

FARMS, HEARTS AND GARDENS If the parks of London are the lungs of the city, the farms and gardens are it's heart. Hidden in the back-streets and back-alleys of neglected estates, on r...
Greetings all, some very exciting news for us... After the lease for our current workspace expired last month we've been looking for a new home to ensure the project continues after the 20th of December. After several meetings with different charitable organisations we are very pleased to quietly announce that we've been offered a potential space with the Julian Campbell Foundation in Edmonton, N18.
They're a great charity dedicated to helping children and teenagers with mental health problems like depression. What swung it for us over other interested parties was their genuine understanding of our aims and needs and desire for collaboration with us.
Keep watching this space!
Greetings all,
it is with deep regret that I have to announce that the Forge will be closing its doors at Stepney City Farm on the 20th of December 2013. Our lease has not been renewed and so we are currently looking for alternative venues before the vacation date. We will keep you all posted on our progress but rest assured Artisan Ironwork will continue in its aim to preserve and promote our craft, wherever we go.
best wishes
IAN
