Restoration underway—a matching two-seater mid-century sofa by Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist from the Paradise series for Nordiska Kompaniet, Swedish 1950s. Like the matching lounge chair, the foam has completely disintegrated and needs replacing. We've separated the back from the seat and stripped the upholstery, revealing the state it was in when it arrived from auction. Buying antique furniture at auction can be tricky—catalogue descriptions are often vague, leaving room for surprises. This mid-century sofa is no exception, but that’s part of the challenge when working with vintage pieces. With the foam replaced and the upholstery refreshed, this mid-century sofa will be ready to stand as a comfortable and understated example of Scandinavian design.
