An exceptional and important pair of late 18th century George III period window benches.

In the neoclassical taste, of impressive scale, and with an elegant serpentine outline, the moulded scrolling sides above a fluted and leaf-carved front seat rail, on fluted bulbous tapering legs. Decorated with refined parcel gilt detailing on an off-white ground.

A very fine pair of George II mahogany armchairs in the rococo taste. The shaped backs, seats and arm-rests upholstered. The cabriole legs and knurled feet with foliate carved cabochons, the plain rear cabrioles of bold form, with curvilinear slightly channelled seat rails styled with rococo scrolls. incised lines and gadrooning centred on acanthus scrolls, twisted scrolled elbow with further foliate carving, the feet with concealed castors.

A detail from a magnificent mid 18th century George II period carved giltwood overmantel mirror. Conceived in the rococo chinoiserie taste, and of impressive scale, the tripartite divided rectangular mirror plate elaborately framed in carved giltwood and gilt gesso embellished with scrolling acanthus leaves, elongated C-scrolls, stylised icicles and waterfalls, architectural columns and all surmounted with a chinoiserie figure seated on a rocky outcrop with a fishing road and fish on the line.

THE HAMILTON PALACE CHAIRS

A magnificent and important pair of early 18th century George I period carved giltwood and gilt gesso side chairs from the collections of the Dukes of Hamilton, Hamilton Palace. The green velvet upholstered backs and seats above shell carved cabriole legs with claw and ball feet, the back legs similarly detailed and elegantly outswept.

The Duke of Norfolk's Carlton House Desk

A magnificent and historically important late 18th century George III period mahogany Carlton House Writing Table from the collections of the Dukes of Norfolk, Norfolk House. Of impressive bold scale and exceptional quality throughout. The upper tiered curved section with a pierced brass gallery above a collection of brass handled drawers, false drawers, curved doors and a secret compartment. With a leather lined writing surface which includes a ratcheted reading slide, and one long and two short drawers in the frieze, all standing on square tapering legs ending in brass box castors. The whole veneered in the finest mahogany, the drawers with ebonised stringing. The reverse with magnificent panels of fielded mahogany.

A very fine George II carved giltwood and gilt gesso pier mirror. The original bevelled rectangular plate within a foliate and strapwork border against a punched ground, surmounted by a cartouche within a broken pediment, with a shaped apron centred by a stylised shell cresting, with two lacquered brass candle arms.

An exceptional Queen Anne walnut chest of drawers, the top and sides veneered in burr walnut of the finest figuring and colour, the top with rare double feather-banded borders and moulded edges, with a brushing slide above two small and three long drawers, all with original locks and brass handles, raised on bracket feet.

An exceptional George I walnut and parcel gilt bureau cabinet. The molded broken arched cornice with carved giltwood finials above two conforming doors, opening to reveal pigeonholes, niches, and drawers, centred by a small cupboard with beveled mirrored door that conceals secret drawers, the slant font opening to reveal a writing surface and interior with further drawers and pigeonholes, the base with three short and three long feather banded figured drawers and supported on bracket feet. Retaining the original metalwork.

An exceptional mid 18th century carved mahogany chest of drawers of outstanding colour and patination. With a serpentine shaped top with finely carved gadrooned edge above four long graduated drawers, each retaining their superb original ornate brass handles, flanked by carved canted corners. and standing on shaped ogee bracket feet.

An exceptionally rare and important pair of Queen Anne gilt gesso and silkwork sconces, the arched acanthus-carved crestings and foliate mouldings enclosing early-18th-century silkwork panels, between oak and acorn carved uprights, with scrolled apron supporting brass candle arms.
