One from a fine set of four George III neo-classical giltwood armchairs.

The shield shaped backs surmounted by a ribbon motif and finials to the uprights, the armrests terminating in acanthus scrolls, the padded backs and seats upholstered. The serpentine front rail detailed with a carved laurel sprig, the front legs round, fluted and tapered and headed by carved paterae, the back legs elegantly outswept.

With cramp cuts and baton holes to the undersides.

An exceptional pair of early 18th century George II period burr walnut concertina action card tables. Of outstanding colour and patina throughout. The shaped hinged fold over tops with superb book-matched burr walnut veneers bordered with herringbone inlay and cross-banding, each opening to reveal a green baize playing surface with burr walnut circular candlestands and sunken counter wells. The finely figured concertina action frieze above four extremely elegant and particularly well carved acanthus and rosette detailed cabriole legs terminating in superb claw and ball feet.

Presumably commissioned by Sir Thomas Dyer, 5th Baronet (1694-1780) for Spains Hall and sold to Samuel Ruggles (d.1764) with the purchase of Spains Hall, 1760.

A very fine George I ormolu-mounted parcel-gilt walnut secretaire-cabinet in the manner of Samuel Bennet. The upper section with a giltwood swan-neck cresting centred with a foliate carved giltwood cartouche above a mirrored door flanked by fluted pilasters, one of which conceals the keyhole, the door opening to reveal two adjustable bookshelves above three short drawers, the lower bombé section fitted with a pull-out secretaire-drawer above three graduated drawers, standing on bracket feet. Each drawer fitted with its original finely chased elaborate gilt-brass escutcheons and handles.

An exceptional and very rare George I carved gilt gesso settee.

The frame decorated throughout with outstanding carved gilt gesso detailing, the back and seat upholstered in eighteenth century French silk damask, the arm supports boldly outswept with curled terminals, the gilt gesso seat frieze further embellished with scrolling foliage and circular punchwork background, standing on elegant cabriole legs further decorated with acanthus leaves and surmounted by shells, terminating in pad feet similarly decorated.

An exceptional George III mahogany “Director” period specimen side chair of wonderful quality. The back with partially stop-fluted side columns and a superb anthemion crested interlaced splat with floral and foliate carvings to the top rail centered by deep-carved foliate clasped cabochon, the upholstered saddle-seat above chamfered moulded front legs joined to the slightly splayed back legs by a sophisticated shaped H-stretcher. Of excellent colour throughout.

THE SHARDELOES URNS AND PEDESTALS BY JOHN LINNELL

A highly important pair of George III gilt bronze mounted urns and pedestals by John Linnell, and designed by Robert Adam.

Supplied by John Linnell to William Drake (d. 1796) for Shardeloes, Buckinghamshire in 1767.

Each urn with a removable tapering lid carved with stop-fluting, foliate designs and a guilloche rim, the gilt-bronze mounts with a conforming guilloche collar between scrolled handles on satyr masks, the wrythen fluted bodes with acanthus and foliate carved socle, one fully hollowed with a lead lining, the other shallow sham unfinished cavity. The pedestals with a fluted frieze to three sides within acanthus and guilloche mouldings and centred with a paterae, the doors decorated with laurel swags and paterae, one enclosing a shelf, the other with two shelves, each on a square moulded plinth base.

One from a set of six important and very rare Chippendale period giltwood open armchairs, possibly by Ince & Mayhew, each with inverted heart-shaped back, the arms rests, padded back and serpentine seat all upholstered, the chanelled arm rests sweeping down and mounted above the legs, the front rails centred by a foliate oval paterae, on fluted turned tapering legs headed by a gadrooned collar and flowerhead, on turned feet. Upholstered in blue strié silk.

Each with cramp cuts to the underside and exposed single vertical splat to the backs.

An exceptional and very fine 18th century George III Chinese Chippendale giltwood mirror. The carved shaped rectangular frame surmounted by an acanthus carved chinoiserie canopied cresting above a latticework cartouche, with C-scrolls, branches, lattice-work, icicles and pierced foliate carving throughout.

THE HEVENINGHAM HALL WALL LIGHTS

An exceptional and historically important pair of late 18th century George III period carved gitlwood and gilt gesso neo-classical wall lights. The carved detail of exceptionally fine quality throughout, the lights each adorned with ebonized opposing winged eagle crests over elegant giltwood frames with laurel wreath in-the-round collars, draped swags, scrolled arms, brass bobeches, a center ribbon topped tablet with a lion mask, eagle heads on scrolls and a leaf decorated lower stem. Retaining original water gilding.

An outstanding pair of neo-classical wall lights.

A superb quality late Georgian Regency period amboyna and ormolu mounted library table attributed to Marsh & Tatham. The rectangular quarter-veneered top with gadrooned gilt brass edge, with a plain frieze fitted with a hidden mahogany lined drawer. Standing on four fluted and tapered columnar legs topped with gilt bronze Ionic capitals and toupe feet.

The burr amboyna veneered of fabulous colour and patination throughout. The metalwork of the highest quality.
