Brown paper packages…

These are a few of our favourite things.

Our newest vintage pieces designed by Carl Auböck II came to Sigmar wrapped in their original brown paper packaging. The pieces were originally intended for export to the US market during the 1950s.

Our new additions include:

A leather wrapped pipe (or watch) stand.
A leather and brass humidor.
A cane-wrapped, walnut cigarette box with chrome plated ends.

All pieces are on display in our King’s Road gallery and online at sigmarlondon.com

An unconventional valet stand…

Small, but perfectly formed. Meet the most miniature member of our seating collection: a 19th century “Correctional Chair”.

Less frightening than it might first sound, correctional chairs were originally conceived by 18th century surgeon and anatomist, Sir Astley Paston Cooper, to correct the posture of slouching children. The shallow seat and high back, with horizontal posts added at calculated intervals force a child to sit ‘correctly’.

The seat would make a wonderful stand for a sculpture or could function as a focal point in its own right.

The “Correctional Chair” and our assortment brass of wardrobe accessories by are all available to view in our King’s Road gallery

Love mid-century design as much as we do? We’re looking for a Gallery Assistant to join our Kings Road team.

We are looking for a gallery assistant who is willing to help in each physical and administrative task involved in procuring and selling collectable designs -in person as well as online- and coordinating their national or global delivery.
The role is largely customer facing and hands-on but also includes all other aspects of running a commercial gallery; the successful candidate will not only see exactly how the logistics and business of a design gallery work but be a contributing part of it with a real say on things.

The opportunity is a full-time position, Tuesday to Saturday, based at 263 Kings Road.

Full details of this position can be found via the link in our bio

An exclusive discount for our newsletter subscribers and a glimpse into

Nothing gives a greater understanding and appreciation for Auböck designs than by seeing the processes of their production. And so, our November Newsletter is filled with “behind-the-scenes” glimpses into one of Vienna’s most prestigious workshops.

Hopefully providing some much needed inspiration for gifts and in the spirit of the encroaching “Festive Season”, we’re also offering our subscribers 20% off all Werkstätte Carl Auböck designs, including our vintage catalogue, until Christmas.

Celebrating winning “Best Printed Fabric” at the 2024 Design Awards.

Last September, we were thrilled to announce the release of “Lobby”, a previously unseen wallpaper design from Marthe Armitage’s design archive. A rich botanical pattern of hydrangeas and leaves, “Lobby” first adorned the walls of Marthe’s Georgian home in Chiswick.

After Marthe’s own lobby, Sigmar became the second home of this archival print, as the remastered design was used to reupholster a 1940s Model 4118 Kaare Klint sofa, made by cabinetmaker Rud Rasmussen in Denmark.

To celebrate this award-winning fabric, we thought it was only best to take “Lobby” outside. Basking in the late-afternoon light of Battersea park, we staged an Autumnal picnic. The perfect setting to compliment the warm, organic hues of the studio’s newly launched “Polychrome Collection”.

The Marthe Armitage X Sigmar Model 4118 Sofa is now on display in our King’s Road gallery, alongside a limited number of cushions from the new Polychrome Collection.

Welcome to Design Launch.

A message from Sigmar co-founder, Ebba Thott.

After over a year in the making, I am proud to introduce Design Launch.

Design Launch is an online digital-coaching platform led by myself to help guide our next generation of interior designers.

I wanted Design Launch to be flexible. After joining, you will have immediate access to all 22 exclusive video lessons which you can watch anytime.

It was also incredibly important to me that the course felt personal. Each week, you and other participants will be able to join me in weekly live Q&A sessions. Whilst this course is something you can complete independently, you won’t be doing this alone.

Wherever you are in your interior design journey, I’ll be here every step of the way to help you write your next chapter.

I can’t wait to get started.

Ebba.

P.S. For a limited time, get 30% off Design Launch by using code INTROOFFER at the checkout…

The Great Tour d’Auböck!

As ever, it is an absolute privilege to be invited to Vienna to visit the prestigious

Over two fabulous days, Nina, Kurt, and Florence enjoyed several exceptional walking tours of the city, which included stops at some of Vienna’s most renowned artisans and, of course, two exhibitions dedicated to the workshop:

ICONIC AUBÖCK

From Tableware to a Prefabricated Housing: The Architect and Designer Carl Auböck (1924–1993)

This picture was taken inside the warm yellow walls of workshop’s stunning Biedermeier garden, where a selection of the workshop’s designs populated an enviable buffet. We don’t normally approve of feet on the table, but if it’s polished brass we can’t help but approve.

A huge thank you to for organising such an enjoyable and
informative visit. We have so many memories from the trip that we can’t wait to share.
