The volunteers did lots of work in the garden today, demolishing boxes ready for new ones to replace them. Many thanks to them, and to Chloe from Harca for organising this.
Greening Brownfield is a community garden and food growing co-op in London, E14.
Greening Brownfield is a community garden designed and built by residents of Erno Goldfinger's Brownfield Estate in London. Located on a formerly disused, overgrown tennis court, we use reclaimed and rehomed materials for our raised beds, benches and children's area.

Greening Brownfield was part of the excellent WEN Summer Gathering at the Teviot Centre on Wednesday. There were talks, workshops (I made a beeswax food wrap and bought some local honey and jam), and a delicious lunch. The day finished with visits to local community gardens at R-Urban Poplar, Love Garden and us. We finished just before the rain came!

We welcomed the bee-keeping group back to the garden today, after a break caused by the pandemic. They came to inspect the hive as part of their learning, and got to see plenty of bees who were foraging in the beautiful weather - these pictures were taken from a safe distance!

Spent the morning at a Composting and Mycelium Workshop, organised by WEN and held at Mile End Community Garden. We learnt about different types of composting and how to grow mushrooms to improve soil quality. Interesting and practical!
Coincidentally, we've just go another rotating composter, so we can create even more compost.

Week 3, and the compost area is finally finished! We emptied the old, broken, rotating composter (not pleasant) and transferred everything to the spiffy new composter. Thanks to everyone who was involved.

We finished off our compost heap rebuild today, despite the rain. They look much neater and our compost is easier to get at now. Good work, and many thanks to those who helped out!

A few of us spent the day doing a much needed rebuild of the compost heap. It was hard work, but we now have lots of lovely compost. It all got a bit 'attack of the killer bees' in the morning and then we dug up a wasp nest. Only one sting between us though...
There's more work to do, but we hope to finish next Saturday.

Hurrah, the great t**s have successfully fledged from the urn. We first noticed them nesting in there in 2017.
