A Mayfair drawing room, built around a wall that had to do several things at once.

The media wall holds the screen, the speakers and the storage, all set behind dark timber with a bronze trim that lines through with the shelving either side. Nothing is on show. The proportions were drawn so the television sits centrally without dominating, and the shelves carry the eye outward rather than up.

Rooms like this work because the decisions were made early, with the designer, the audiovisual team and the makers in the same conversation.

These samples sit in the workshop while a scheme is being resolved: textured metals, stone and timber veneers lined up so they can be seen together, in the same light, at the same time of day. Photographs flatten the differences. In the hand, the decision is usually obvious within a minute.

It is one of the most useful hours in a project, and one of the easiest to skip.

A drawer that was designed before it was made.

This one opens on a soft close to reveal a fitted interior, each section set out for what it was always going to hold. The divisions are cut from solid timber and housed into the sides rather than dropped in as a tray, so they stay square, and the base is lined to protect what sits on it.

Fitted interiors are where bespoke earns its name. The outside of a piece can be copied. The inside is drawn around one person's belongings.

A study built around books, light and a long working day.

Full height shelving runs the length of the room and wraps the chimney breast, finished in a deep blue that holds the space together once the lamps are on. The desk was made to match, sized to the room rather than to a catalogue, with the cable route taken through the carcass so the surface stays clear.

Rooms like this are measured in small decisions: shelf depths that take both paperbacks and folios, a return height that clears a chair arm, a finish that will take knocks and still look right in ten years.

Open a cupboard and the material changes.

Behind a painted door, this interior is lined in walnut, chosen so the inside of the joinery feels as considered as the room it sits in. Shelves sit on a fine reveal and the grain runs continuously across the carcass, which takes careful selection and sequencing of boards before anything is cut.

Linings like this are a small decision with a long life. They are the part of a piece the owner touches every day.

Materiality and craft, held in perfect balance.

For this bespoke kitchen, our team paired rich fumed oak cabinetry with Noir St Laurent marble, a combination that feels both dramatic and quietly welcoming. The island anchors the room, while every joint and surface was considered with the same care, so function and understated elegance sit side by side.

This is Kaizen's way of working: nothing added for effect, everything there because it earns its place.

Texture, warmth and a sense of quiet permanence.

For a study in Knightsbridge, our team designed and crafted a series of fielded wall panels: pressed leather from Fameed Khalique - Material supplier set within smoked cherrywood framing. The leather gives the room a tactile softness, while the framing keeps everything precise and considered, and together they bring real depth to a small, deliberate space.

This is the kind of detail we enjoy most: unassuming until you’re standing in front of it, then impossible to ignore.
