💌 Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most… ❤️

How lovely to come home today to a traditional handwritten thank-you card from Molly Ashcroft following her 30th birthday celebrations! 🥰🥂

In a world where everything is so instant, with texts, WhatsApp messages, emails and voice notes, there’s something rather special about someone taking the time to put pen to paper.

It’s a lovely personal touch that seems to be disappearing in today’s digital generation.

And it got me thinking about The Abbey Group and the industry we work in.

Much like a handwritten letter, traditional craftsmanship is something we should never lose sight of.

At Abbey, we embrace modern technology, specialist equipment and innovative restoration techniques, but at the heart of what we do are the traditional skills, personal service and attention to detail that have been passed down through generations.

Whether it’s a handwritten note, a beautifully restored piece of furniture or simply taking the time to pick up the phone rather than send an email, sometimes the old-fashioned ways are still the best. ❤️

💚 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY – 10TH OCTOBER 💚

Such a powerful and important message. ❤️

Today is a reminder that not all battles are visible, and not everyone who smiles is happy on the inside.

Behind every smile, every colleague, every friend and every stranger, there may be struggles we know absolutely nothing about.

At The Abbey Group, we believe that mental health matters just as much as physical health.

Some days, simply getting out of bed, turning up to work or facing the world can take more courage than anyone realises.

💚 It’s okay not to be okay.
💚 It’s okay to ask for help.
💚 It’s okay to have difficult days.
💚 It’s okay to take time for yourself.
💚 And it’s okay to admit you’re struggling.

You don’t have to have everything together, all of the time.

In a world where we are often so busy chasing deadlines, juggling responsibilities and looking after everyone else, let’s remember to check in on ourselves too.

And please, check in on those around you. Sometimes the strongest person in the room is the one silently struggling the most.

A simple message, a coffee, a listening ear or asking “Are you really okay?” could make more difference than you realise.

Be kind. Be patient. Listen without judgement. You never know what someone else is carrying. 💚

🏺🕰️ SOMETIMES IT’S NICE TO STEP BACK IN TIME… ❤️

Today, I had the pleasure of personally returning a beautifully restored desk to a traditional antique dealer, and what a refreshing experience it was!

No emails, no mobile phones, no WhatsApp messages… just good old-fashioned conversation, a handshake and a genuine appreciation for craftsmanship. ❤️

Walking into his antique shop was like stepping back in time. Surrounded by beautiful furniture, fine china, collectables, intricate woodwork and pieces that have stood the test of time, I couldn’t help but stop and admire everything around me.

And even a little four-legged visitor was enjoying the surroundings! 🐈‍⬛

Every piece has a history. Every scratch tells a story. Every item represents the skill, patience and passion of a craftsman from another era.

In today’s world of flat-pack furniture, mass production, technology and a throwaway culture, it’s easy to forget just how beautifully things were once made.

Furniture wasn’t simply manufactured to last a few years. It was crafted to last generations, passed down through families, treasured and cared for.

And that’s something I feel incredibly passionate about.

At The Abbey Group, restoration isn’t just about repairing something that’s broken. It’s about preserving history, respecting traditional craftsmanship and giving beautiful pieces the opportunity to be enjoyed for another generation.

We are fortunate to have skilled craftsmen in our own workshops who still practise many of these traditional techniques, combining years of experience with modern restoration methods.

Because sometimes the old ways really are the best ways. ❤️

I left the shop today with a real sense of appreciation, not just for the wonderful antiques on display, but for the people who continue to value, preserve and champion them.

And it reminded me why I love the industry we’re in.

In a world where everything moves so quickly, there’s something rather special about slowing down, having a proper conversation and appreciating the beauty of something made by hand.

Not everything old needs replacing. Sometimes it simply needs restoring. 🪑❤️

Here’s to the antique dealers, collectors, restorers and traditional craftsmen keeping our heritage alive.

And to those who still prefer a conversation over an email… I rather admire you! 😊

🥣🐻 GOLDILOCKS & THE THREE BEARS… WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM THE ABBEY GROUP! 🐻🥣

📖 Once upon a time… on World Porridge Day!

Goldilocks was wandering through the forest when she stumbled upon a little cottage belonging to the Three Bears. 🏡🌳

Feeling rather hungry, she let herself in and spotted three bowls of delicious porridge sitting on the table.

🥣 First, she tasted Papa Bear’s porridge.

🔥 “OUCH! This porridge is MUCH too hot!”

🥣 Next, she tried Mamma Bear’s porridge.

❄️ “BRRR! This porridge is MUCH too cold!”

🥣 Finally, she tasted Baby Bear’s porridge.

😋 “Ahhhh! This porridge is JUST RIGHT!”

And being rather cheeky, she gobbled up every last spoonful! 😂

Now feeling rather full, Goldilocks decided she needed somewhere to sit and digest her breakfast!

🪑 Papa Bear’s chair was MUCH too hard!

🪑 Mamma Bear’s chair was MUCH too soft!

🪑 Baby Bear’s chair was… JUST RIGHT!

Until…

💥 CRAAAAACK!!! 💥

Poor Baby Bear’s beautiful little chair collapsed beneath her! 😱

Goldilocks panicked!

“OH NO! What am I going to do? The Three Bears will be home any minute!” 🐻🐻🐻

Then she remembered something she’d heard about a family-run furniture restoration company…

When the Three Bears finally arrived home, Papa Bear was furious!

🐻 “SOMEBODY’S BEEN EATING MY PORRIDGE!”

🐻 Mamma Bear cried, “SOMEBODY’S BEEN SITTING IN MY CHAIR!”

And Baby Bear shouted…

🐻 “SOMEBODY’S BEEN SITTING IN MY CHAIR… AND IT LOOKS BETTER THAN EVER!” 😂❤️

Goldilocks breathed a sigh of relief!

THE END… AND THEY ALL LIVED BEAR-Y HAPPILY EVER AFTER! 🐻❤️

❤️🏃‍♀️ GOOD LUCK LAURA – CHALLENGE NUMBER 3! 🏃‍♀️❤️

A massive GOOD LUCK from all of us at The Abbey Group to our very own Laura, who will be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London tomorrow! 🏅👏

After already smashing her first half marathon and conquering Scafell Pike with Lisa, she’s now lacing up those trainers again for her THIRD charity challenge in support of the British Heart Foundation! ❤️

Laura, your determination, commitment and sheer madness never cease to amaze us! 😂💪

Just think… 13.1 miles tomorrow and then ONLY ONE MORE CHALLENGE TO GO! 🤣🙌

Although that final challenge is HYROX… so perhaps don’t celebrate too early! 😂💪

We’re all incredibly proud of you, Laura. You’re doing your mum proud, raising money for such a worthwhile cause and proving that anything is possible with a little determination (and a lot of stubbornness!). ❤️

Go smash it, Laura! 🏃‍♀️🏅

We’ll all be cheering you on from the sidelines (preferably with a coffee and our feet up!). ☕😂

Now that the aching legs have recovered, I’m finally catching up properly and we wanted to say another HUGE thank you to everyone who donated to our British Heart Foundation fundraiser before, during and after our Scafell Pike climb.

Some of the messages about our mums really got us. This challenge was always about more than reaching the top. Laura and I did it in memory of our mums and for the British Heart Foundation, and knowing people were behind us made it even more special. ❤️

I’ve literally just returned from a golf holiday, happily sitting ON a plane ✈️⛳️ — but the next time I get on one for charity, I won’t be staying in my seat!

🪂 30th December — SKYDIVE!

Yes, I’m voluntarily jumping OUT of a perfectly good aeroplane in Perth. 😳😂

Scafell Pike was challenge number one for me… and the madness continues!

Thank you to every single person who has donated, shared, encouraged us or simply told us we’re completely bonkers. 😂❤️ You are helping us raise money for a cause incredibly close to our hearts and keeping the memories of our mums right there with us through every crazy challenge.
