Why does Martin take the trouble to salvage old wood and make new things? Retrieving waste materials and transforming them into new things takes patience, skill and creativity. From Martin trained as a carpenter still uses this training as the solid foundation for what he makes. He balances all this making or should I say remaking with a day job too!

Toys come in all shapes and sizes, but have you ever heard of a Mud Kitchen? Meet Martin, who, from his garden shed at home, salvages unwanted wood and turns it into new things. Using old wood pallets and doors, Martin handmakes these durable and fun Play Kitchens. Seeing wood-grain is known to have a calming effect on us. Toys made from wood are better for health and well-being than those made from plastic. Natural, durable toys are a lovely hand-me-down for the little tots of tomorrow!
