Interiors of our house on the hill: robust plywood and Dekton surfaces with bold splashes of colour. Heating and power supplied by a heat pump at the end of the garden behind the shed, and roof mounted solar panels. 📷

We added roof and side extensions to more than double the size of this 1930s semi in South London. Extensive landscaping helps resolve the steep sloping site, with a bike and buggy store built into the hillside at pavement level. The front facade was restored, with the new side and rear given a more contemporary treatment in the same colour palette. The main living spaces occupy the open plan middle floor, with grandstand views and easy access via a stair to the rear garden.

We’ve been working on some preliminary designs for the restoration and conversion of an old chapel into a family home. At the end you can see how it looks now, and how it was back in the days of horse power!

I’ve always loved the precise geometry and challenge of a maze (from old English meaning ‘to befuddle’) with all its false dawns and dead ends. It’s distinct from the Greek derived ‘labyrinth’ which has just one circuitous way through. This is my drop shadow design for a bathroom mural from encaustic tiles. It’s picking up on the same theme from my previous house using black and white chevron patterned tiles from www.Marrakeshdesign.se. Part of another tiled mural at the end. Now to get it done!

Here we moved it to the centre of the ground floor plan, conceived as a tall wooden tunnel connecting the living spaces at each end, with shelves and voids framing the asymmetric end elevations.
