When life is a party… between sandbag cleans and shuttle runs

Spending a few hours in the sun with some incredible people to tell cancer to F off. We lifted, we carried things, we threw things around, we danced, and had an amazing time for a good cause. Good day out!

A dream come true!

We did it!

Crossing this line once, at the start, was the dream. Being right in the middle when the excitement amongst 2,700 runners makes your neck hair stand up - something I knew from a video I watched probably 100x - was my dream for years.

Crossing the line again, after 171km and 10,000m of climbing in 42:34h, and doing it with my family around me and hundreds of people I didn't know cheering, was something I did not dream of. I had trained for the race. Not for the finish. Not for this.

Words cannot express what this means to me.

- the organization, the medics, and all the volunteers, absolutely amazing what you have put together. This is not a race. This is much bigger. Thank you and see you soon again.

- all the people in this little mountain paradise: you are different. For a week 20,000 crazy runners turn you village upside down, and you welcome us with open arms and provide the race experience on the planet. You are phenomenal! Thank you!

Thank you to the family. The constant support throughout the years and during race week, virtually and from some in person even, is invaluable.

- trainer, coach, mentor, friend, sometimes psychologist, a rock to lean on when needed, a reality-checker when required, and so much more. You make dreams come true! Couldn't have done it without you, and would not want to do anything without you. You make me better at life! 🤝🙌🙏

and the twins - my crew. Not only during this and other races, travelling around three countries to meet me in the dead of night, but for so many years. Unconditional. Love. 👨‍👨‍👧‍👦❤️

Three years ago I entered my first qualification race for UTMB, and DNF. I have dreamed about being at the start line many times. When I watch videos of the race, get goosebumps and when I see others racing it I get tears in my eyes.

In three hours my dream will come true, I will hear Conquest of Paradise, I will clap along with 2,600 other runners. And for the next two nights and two days, we will conquer our paradise.

Three years in the making.

Now... ITS GO TIME!
