Five asymmetrical drawers to one of the two wardrobes.
I guess we could call that original thinking.
The colour of the drawer fronts (chosen by the client) alongside the Oak looks great. Very happy.

Asymmetrical drawers.
As these wardrobes are a lot deeper than usual, the drawers could be made a lot deeper too.
They are also tall and narrow, and would always be accessed from the centre of the wardrobe (left side), as a door is to the right.
To improve access and make items easier to find we designed the drawers to be asymmetrical with lower fronts. The rear and right side were kept tall to maintain the storage capacity and prevent items falling behind.
I world first?

The first of the wardrobe carcass is together, and it’s huge.
The openings the wardrobes will slot into are deeper that usual, so the wardrobes will extend back into this and be circa 750mm deep.
There is space for hanging at the front, a mix of peg rails and shelving behind for smaller items and accessories.

There’s a tricky little niche to the rear left of the opening for which we’ve created a small shelving unit.
This is separate from the larger surround, the plan is to position the shelving unit in the niche, slide the surround into the opening, then slide the shelving unit onto the side of the surround. It’s impossible to fit otherwise.

The hole for mounting a flush LED light reminded me of a recent trip to Rome, like a painted plywood version of the Pantheon.

The bench assembled in the workshop. It will be dismantled for the top coats of paint before being packaged and delivered to site.

I’m quite often asked by clients we’ve made kitchens for to design and make additional pieces of furniture or wardrobes.
The latest was a bench for this unused opening next to an Oak veneered plywood kitchen we installed in 2024.
The detailing is maintained, hand painted finish to Birch Plywood as was part of the kitchen, Oak veneered internals.
