There’s a reason warm wood finishes continue to find their way into so many kitchen designs.

They bring natural warmth and texture to the room, softening clean lines and adding depth without making the space feel heavy. From lighter oak tones to richer, deeper grains, wood can work beautifully as the main finish or alongside painted cabinetry, stone and more contemporary materials.

It’s a particularly good way to bring character into a modern kitchen while keeping the overall look clean and considered.

📞 Love the look of warm wood finishes? Book a design consultation, and let’s explore how they could work in your kitchen.

When investing in a new kitchen, it’s only natural to shop around and compare quotations from different kitchen retailers. After all, a new kitchen is a significant investment, and you want to make sure you’re getting the best possible deal.

But there’s one mistake we often see homeowners make: comparing kitchen quotations based on price rather than value.

In our latest blog, discover why quality, design, installation and long-term value matter more than simply choosing the cheapest kitchen.

We love a kitchen island, but we’ll also be the first to say that not every kitchen needs one.

The right island should earn its place in the room. For some clients, that means extra prep space and storage. For others, it’s somewhere to cook while chatting to family, grab breakfast in the morning or gather with friends over a glass of w**e.

Size matters too. An island that’s too large can interrupt the flow of the kitchen, while one that’s carefully proportioned can completely change how the room works.

That’s why we always start with the space and how you want to use it, rather than simply adding an island because it’s on the wish list.

📞 Wondering whether an island would work in your kitchen? Book a design consultation and let’s explore the possibilities.

A utility room might not be the first space you think about when planning a new kitchen, but get it right, and it can completely change how your home works.

By moving laundry, cleaning products, household appliances and everyday clutter away from your main kitchen, a utility room can help keep the kitchen calmer, tidier and more enjoyable to use.

And you do not need much space. With thoughtful planning, even a compact utility room can work incredibly hard. In our latest blog, we’re sharing some ideas to help you make the most of this hardworking space.

Some kitchen styles come and go. Shaker kitchens have never really left.

What makes them so enduring is their balance. The framed cabinetry adds just enough detail to create character while keeping the space feeling calm and uncluttered.

They work just as beautifully in a period home as they do in a contemporary extension, adapting effortlessly to different colours, materials and finishes.

It's a style that gives you plenty of freedom to make the kitchen your own, without feeling tied to a passing trend.

Choosing a kitchen is a bit like naming a baby. The moment people find out you're doing it, the suggestions start rolling in.

"You should get a boiling water tap."

"Have you thought about navy blue?"

"You'll regret not having an island."

The challenge isn't finding opinions. It's figuring out which ones actually matter.

That's where a good designer comes in.

📞 Ready to cut through the noise? Book an appointment and get advice that's tailored to your space, lifestyle, and the way you actually live.

Hello September 🍂

The season for comforting dishes is officially here.

Think creamy risottos, homemade soups, bubbling pasta bakes, slow-cooked casseroles and something sweet baking in the oven.

September is a lovely time to get back into the kitchen, try a few new recipes and make the most of those cosy evenings at home.

What is your go-to autumn dish? 🍲

Houseplants have officially earned a place in the kitchen. 🌿

They're one of the biggest interior trends right now, adding colour, texture and a sense of calm to the busiest room in the home.

Our favourite kitchen-friendly plants include:
🌱 Basil and other fresh herbs
🪴 Spider Plants
🌿 Pothos
🌸 Peace Lilies
🍃 Snake Plants
🌴 Monsteras

Whether it's a few herbs on the windowsill or a statement plant beside your island, a little greenery can completely change the feel of your space.

One thing we often tell our clients is that handleless kitchens aren't just about creating a modern look.

They're about simplifying the space. Without handles interrupting the cabinetry, your eye takes in the kitchen as a whole rather than focusing on individual units. The result is a design that feels calmer, more spacious, and effortlessly put together.

They're also surprisingly versatile. Whether paired with warm wood tones, textured finishes, bold colours or a more neutral palette, a handleless kitchen provides a clean foundation that lets the rest of the design do the talking.

📞 If you're considering a new kitchen, we'd be happy to show you how a handleless design could work in your home. https://www.raymunnkitchens.co.uk/contact?utm_name=sked&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=sked_6a6223bd249cea1fc5fc6800
