Tomorrow marks the start of the first of two Wellington Arts Collective Open Studio weekends and we're pleased to say that the shop is packed to the rafters with amazing art from these incredibly talented folk.

Over the next few days, we'll be introducing them all to you and are kicking off now with Kat Preston, an incredible multi-disciplinary artist, who's work has brought some definite 'girl power to The Bolthole.

Kat's work includes ceramics, sculpture and painting and focuses primarily on the female form. and explores the female psyche as a way to express her emotions.

she has always felt drawn to art, knowing that a life of creativity was her true calling. Through drawing and painting, she discovered her style of exaggerated female forms, which led her to explore beauty and the female experience.

Throughout history, ideal beauty has fluctuated between the curvaceous and slim figure. This ever-changing image reflects the need to celebrate women of all shapes. Beauty is fashion, but our bodies are lifetimes. We are all beautiful, and Kat's work reflects this and showcases the internal strength women possess.

Kat will be joining us at the shop on Saturday 6th July to demonstrate her work, so pop by and meet this incredible artist for yourself.

Q: How many people does it take to set up an easel?

A: Far too many, but when you’re this excited about the stunning work coming in for the Wellington Arts Collective Open Studio Trail, anything can be forgiven.
