A lovely visit from our new(ish) MP Hannah Spencer a couple of weeks back to talk all things Repair Café and Library of Things.

Of course she’s a big fan — and was signed up well before becoming an MP!

We had some great chats about everything from the perils of sanding through cables (it happens…) to the need for more support for brilliant community projects like the LOT and Repair Café.

Always good to have champions for repair, reuse, and doing things differently 💚💚💚

The next Repair Cafe is this Saturday 18th April, 10am to 12 noon at Levenshulme Old Library. If it’s broken, our handy volunteers will have a go at fixing it – for free!

Useful things to know if you’re coming along:

☕ Brews and biscuits are provided – donations welcome
⏰ Come early – it gets busy!
1⃣ One item per person please, so everyone has a chance to get something fixed
🚽 There are loos, kids toys and accessible ramp access to the space
🛠 We can’t guarantee a fix, but we’ll always try!

See you Saturday!

Well, that’s not something you get to do every day!
Representatives from over 100 repair cafés across the UK gathered on the Pavilion Terrace at the Houses of Parliament, sharing ideas and stories about repair, reuse and recycling.
Plenty of MPs came along to pledge their support — and at least one toaster was saved from landfill in the process!
A brilliant day all round.

We did a bit of everything at Levenshulme Repair Café today. 31 items tackled, including some delicate “surgery” on these two dolls who were absolutely refusing to sit up… safe to say it wasn’t a one-person job — it took three of our genius repairers to crack it!

Huge shoutout to the team for their patience, creativity and problem-solving skills

And… apologies in advance if these two make an appearance in your dreams (or nightmares!) if you’re seeing this before bed 😅
