A few new designs have been coming out of the workshop this week, just in time for our Christmas orders to begin.

We’ve been trying a few different timber combinations and layouts, and these are three of the finished results.

Each one has a completely different look. The top board keeps things a little simpler with wider sections, while the others lean more into the contrast between the different timbers.

We’ve also kept a few designs back, which will be going onto the website this week, so keep your eyes peeled for those.

For now though, which one would you choose?

Not every chopping board has to be oak.

We’ve been working with Beech recently, and this is the result. Our new Classic Beech Chopping Board.

Beech has been used for chopping boards and kitchen worktops for generations, and for good reason. It’s a hard-wearing timber with a fine grain and a much lighter, cleaner look than oak.

We’ve kept the design deliberately simple. Straight sides, softly rounded edges and around 45mm thick, so it still feels substantial on the worktop without becoming unnecessarily heavy.

It’s available in Medium, Large and XL, with each one made to order in our North East workshop.

For anyone who likes the lighter look of Beech, we think this one has turned out really well.

Which would suit your kitchen better, Beech or Oak?

With the festive season getting closer, things are starting to pick up in the workshop and we’ve been working on a few new pieces in the background.

One of them is our new solid oak placemats.

The idea was simple. We wanted something that brought the same warm, solid oak feel of our kitchen pieces onto the dining table. Something made to be used every day, but that also looks right at home when the table gets a bit more dressed up over Christmas.

They sit really nicely alongside our coasters and Pinch Pots too, so you can bring a bit more natural timber into the table setting without it feeling too formal.

They’ve just gone live on the website and are available now.

What do you think? Solid wood placemats for everyday use, or do you tend to save the nicer tableware for when people come round?

This one started with a simple customer request, could we add recessed handles to one of our Signature Classic XL boards?

At this size, it was a good shout.

The handles took a little more time to get right than we first expected, but the finished result worked brilliantly. They sit neatly into the sides, keep the top completely clear, and make a big board much easier to pick up and move around.

It’s still very much our Signature Classic, just made with a small change to suit the person it was being made for.

And most importantly, the client was very happy with it.

We’d be interested to know what you think though — handles like these, or would you keep the sides completely plain?

Our Home Chef XL is probably the board we make more than any other.

Once you see one in the workshop, it’s easy to understand why.

At 60cm x 36cm, these are big boards. You get a huge amount of space to work on, whether you’re chopping veg, prepping meat, carving, or just trying to keep everything in one place while you cook. The mug in the photo gives a pretty good idea of the scale.

For us, it’s about the right balance. Big enough to give you proper working space, thick and weighty enough to feel solid on the worktop, but not so heavy that moving it around becomes a job in itself.

We find the XL is just about the perfect size for people who cook a lot.

And if 60cm x 36cm still doesn’t sound quite big enough, let us know — we can make them bigger just for you.

A good chunk of this week has been spent on these two.

Both are XL Signature oak chopping boards — one Classic and one Live Edge — two very different takes on the same size board.

The recessed handles were a custom request. They took a little more time than we expected, but they came out really well and on a board this size they’re a useful addition.

This was them part-way through, right before the final sanding and finish.

I’m interested to know which way people would go with these.

Would you choose the cleaner Classic edge, or keep the natural Live Edge?

And what about the handles — would you have them, or keep the sides completely plain?

The new boxes have arrived, and we’re really pleased with how they’ve turned out.

We wanted the packaging to feel like part of the order, not just something that gets your board from our workshop to your kitchen.

Inside the lid there’s a QR code straight to our care instructions, so you can quickly check how to look after your board from the day it arrives. There’s also a link to leave a review, and our contact details are there if you ever need to get in touch.

It’s a small thing, but we think it makes opening the box feel that bit more considered.

If you cook a lot, you’ll know there are always a few ingredients you reach for again and again.

That was the idea behind our Oak Pinch Pots.

Keep salt, pepper, chilli, herbs or whatever you use most right beside the hob, instead of digging through jars and packets every time.

They’re available as a Single, Double or Triple.

We make each one by hand from solid oak in our North East workshop.

Ours would probably be salt, pepper and chilli — something with a bit of heat usually finds its way into dinner here.

📦 New packaging is on the way.

Over the last few weeks we’ve been working through prototypes for our new True North Bespoke packaging, and the final versions have now been signed off.

The bulk order is now in production, which means over the next few weeks customers will gradually start receiving their orders in our new branded boxes.

It’s another small step forward for the business, but an important one for us.

We spend a huge amount of time making sure the pieces leaving the workshop are something we’re proud to put our name to, and we want the experience around them to reflect that too — from placing your order, through to opening the box when it arrives.

A huge thank you to Emma and the team at for helping us bring this together. From the initial prototypes through to getting the final packaging signed off, they’ve made the whole process incredibly straightforward and helped us get exactly what we were looking for.

The new packaging keeps things simple, recognisable and very much True North Bespoke, while giving everything leaving the workshop a much more finished feel.

Another investment back into the business, another improvement to the customer experience, and another step towards where we want True North Bespoke to be.

A new product to our new Kitchen & Dining range — solid oak coasters.

We’ve been adding a few smaller pieces alongside adding more of our bespoke work to the website recently, and these are among the first additions.

Made from solid oak in our North East workshop, they have a simple square profile, softly eased edges and a substantial feel, with the natural grain and character of the timber left to do most of the talking.

They’re available in sets of 2, 4, 6 or 8, so they work just as well for a desk or coffee table as they do around a full dining table.

We’ve also made a few changes across the website recently to make the different ranges easier to browse, including bringing all of our chopping boards together in one place so they’re much easier to compare.

There’s more coming to Kitchen & Dining soon, but the coasters are live now and available to order.
