On June 10th myself and Team CPT Crilly Personal Training will be taking part in Hell and Back an 8km assault course. I am fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society.

My very much loved parents, Maurice and Nora both died from Alzheimer’s/ Dementia in the last three years and I would like to give back to those wonderful humans who work so hard in the background. Those amazing people who cared for them personally, those searching for a cure and those who are suffering with the Alzheimer’s/ Dementia.

I would very much appreciate your financial support. They say “money talks and BS walks” but in this case money will be running and………mostly walking 8km in memory of my parents Maurice and Nora.

Alzheimer’s/dementia is often called the “long goodbye” I understand the sentiment but it implies that suffers slowly fade from our lives or the person becomes a shadow of themselves but I don’t buy that.

I loved my parents to the final second of life, even if they didn’t know my name or who I was and I continue to love them after their death. They were 100% with me until the end. Goodbye nothing, hello eternal love.

The death has occurred of:
Maurice Mathers

Mathers (Newry) October 20th, 2021. Peacefully at his residence, Maurice dearly beloved husband of the late Nora and cherished father of John, Majella, Mark, Joseph and Reamann, 23 Derrybeg Lane. May he Rest In Peace.

House strictly private owing to the government regulations. Funeral on Saturday at 10.30am for 11am Requiem Mass in St Brigid’s Church, The Meadow. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery.

Our Lady Queen of the Most Holy Rosary pray for him.

Maurice will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing sons, daughter, son-in-law Terry, daughters-in-law Helen, Sinead and Kathleen, brother Noel (Australia), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and the entire family circle. The Team at Maypole are saddened at the passing of “the boss” and Joseph's Father, Maurice.

A truly wonderful man who started Maypole Interiors many years ago. Loved by so many in the Newry community. Maurice always had time for a laugh and a joke anytime he came to see us. He will be sorely missed.

We offer our deepest condolences to Joseph, his siblings and extended family.

May he rest in peace.
