I listened and worked with what she already had, rather than telling her to get rid and imposing a totally new look that would never feel like them.

My client and her partner are warm, colourful and energetic people who wanted their home to reflect that, so thats what we helped them see by giving them a vision for their home.

Seeing it before investing in it was the thing that unlocked everything as it took away the guesswork out and gave them both confidence that their home could reflect who they are as a family.

Things I’m loving this month and this one is a Norfolk summer edition...

Houghton Hall and Gardens
One of my favourite places in Norfolk, full stop. The contemporary art exhibitions are always worth the visit — this year’s is particularly good — and the children treat it like a treasure hunt, which is exactly the right way to experience it. The gardens are endlessly inspiring, and somehow I’ve managed to pass that on to the boys too. The interiors are next level. Every time I go, I find something new.

Pensthorpe
What I love about Pensthorpe is the feeling of being completely surrounded by nature. The children wander, there are playgrounds inside and out, and this summer they added a maze and extra activities. It’s one of those rare places that genuinely works for adults and children at the same time, rather than just tolerating one for the sake of the other.

Holkham
Holkham feels like a home from home. We come every summer without question. This year my seven-year-old braved the high ropes, we picnicked, rode bikes, and I even managed a run on my own — which felt like a small miracle. The kind of place that gives everyone exactly what they need from a day out.

BeWILDerwood Norfolk - Magical family fun
BeWILDerwood gets me every time, and it’s because of the detail. Everything is made from wood, there are little houses for magical creatures, and my four-year-old and I spent a long time debating why the creatures never come out in the daytime. We climbed everything, braved the big slides, and I left genuinely charmed. It doesn’t feel commercialised or contrived — and that is a real achievement for what is, fundamentally, a children’s amusement park. The thought and care in it is quietly extraordinary.

A period home in Berkhamsted that was full of character, but not quite working for the family living in it.

When this client moved from North London with two young children, she fell for the charm of the house immediately, but character doesn’t always equal function...

The layout was cramped, storage was limited and the home wasn’t supporting the rhythm of daily family life the way it needed to.

She had a strong sense of her own style and a clear instinct for what the house could become. What she didn’t have was the time or the headspace to bring it all together.

That’s exactly the point at which we started working together.

We rethought the entire ground floor, including a considered extension, working through concept design, photorealistic renders and a 3D model before anything was committed to so she could see it clearly before a single decision was made on site.

From there, we sourced every finish, fitting and piece of furniture, and stayed alongside her throughout the build.

The result is a home with better light, clearer sight lines, defined zones for how the family actually lives, and storage that does its job without making itself known.

The character that drew her to the house in the first place is still entirely there...

It just works now.

This family were on the verge of moving...

Not because they didn’t love the house, but because it had stopped working for the life they were actually living.

From there we mapped out multiple layout options and worked through detailed photorealistic renders so they could see the future of their home clearly before a single decision was made on site.

The result was a layout that finally made sense with the dining brought into the kitchen, a proper playroom and a living room that actually invites you to sit down and exhale.
