Some pieces of furniture become part of a family’s story.

For our Director, Kate MacKenzie, that story began with her grandfather, Philip Arthur Angell, and the armchair where they spent countless hours together. It became a symbol of comfort, conversation and treasured memories that stayed with her throughout her life.

Years later, Kate lovingly restored that same chair, before reimagining it into what is now The Philip Arthur Chair. It remains at the heart of The Original Chair Company and serves as a reminder that the very best furniture carries far more than beautiful craftsmanship. It carries the stories of the people who live with it.
