Back in the mid-to-late 90s, Portishead Market was just down the road from The Raceway and you could pick up some of the absolute must haves of the time.

And yes… the Technics jacket. 🕺

🏁 IF YOU GREW UP IN PORTISHEAD IN THE 90s, YOU MIGHT REMEMBER THIS…

Before smartphones, social media and Saturday afternoons spent staring at a screen, there was The Raceway in Portishead. 🏎️💨

An indoor go-karting track right here in town, down around Harbour Road and Parish Wharf, close to where Waitrose is today.

If you grew up in Portishead in the 90s, chances are you either raced there, went to a birthday party there, or knew someone who did.

The noise. The smell. Pulling on the racing suit and helmet. Convincing yourself you were the next Formula 1 champion… then getting overtaken by one of your mates on the first corner. 😂

It’s one of those places that has disappeared as Portishead has changed, but mention The Raceway and we reckon it’ll bring back a few memories.

As we celebrate 10 years of Portisbeds in Portishead, we’ve been enjoying looking further back at the town we call home and some of the places many of us remember.

🎉 10 YEARS OF PORTISBEDS IN PORTISHEAD! 🎉

This year marks 10 years since Portisbeds opened its doors in Portishead. 🛏️❤️
