Haven’t posted in a while, so here is a before and after of a piece we completed today. The frame was repaired, wood work stripped and polished and upholstered in a fantastic Art of the Loom fabric.

Couple of other projects completed this week. First a complete restoration of an antique French day bed. We stripped the furniture back to the frame, then rebuilt using traditional methods, and upholstered in a silk brocade, with rope edge trim. The other a reupholster of a Parker Knoll button back chair.

We get so carried away with our work we forget to take photos to share. Bet here is a before and after of a chair we delivered today. Following our reupholster of the customers modern sofa in a plain, textured velvet, they were looking for something to accent the room. They chose this superb 1940s/50s frame from our stock (a cracking frame, fully sprung throughout) and a brilliant fabric from Art of the Loom. What a transformation, and it looked just amazing with their home decor. An antique project to follow later in the week.

This rocking chair came to our workshop in a well loved, but rather sad state after many years of use. A joy to restore this much loved family piece back to new life. We stripped the frame back, and the woodwork, re polished, rebuilt and upholstered in a beautiful green velvet.

A new year in the workshop began with a tidy and clean up. I noticed at the recycling centre the skip above, a skip full of furniture that could have been reupholstered rather than replaced. Reupholstery is not only cost effective but better for the environment too. So many of the big brand sofa companies are selling poor quality furniture at a high price. Have a chat with us or your other local upholster, I’m sure you’ll get value for your money, and help save the environment too.

My wife loved the fabric from our last post, the few scraps left from that project were just enough to transform this pretty little chair for our home. The last job today, and now time for a restful Christmas. Merry Christmas.

It’s the pre Christmas rush here in the workshop, thus I forgot to take a ‘before’ photo. One of a pair of period armchairs we completed today, in a beautiful cotton velvet. Part of a larger project for a local hostelry.

Today we delivered this three piece suit back to the customer, she was delighted with the work. She originally bought the suite 35 years ago, to buy that quality new today would cost many thousands, renovating and recovering cost a fraction of that.

FOR SALE We have a delightful pair of Edwardian Salon Chairs for sale at £520. This includes full renovation of the sprung seating, using traditional methods, reupholstery and polishing of the woodwork. Extra to this would be the fabric required, of the customers choosing, thus depending on cost per meter. Please message us for more information.

We are lucky to have such wonderful pieces of furniture come through our workshop. Today a gorgeous pair of late Georgian chairs, with beautiful painted detailing. We completely remade the seats using traditional methods and fillings.

A lovely way to end the week completing this project of upholstering two lovely Victorian library chairs. The customer also wanted a matching ottoman footstool, which we have made to her design, and a few scatter cushions. The beautiful fabrics are from Art of the Loom, based nearby in Clitheroe.

A set of six chair seat pads tailored for these lovely old chapel chairs, in the customers own wool check. Fiddly work getting the lines to match up, but worth the effort for the end result.
