Here’s our latest 4‑berth electric camper, complete with a rear garage for mountain bikes, camping gear, adventure kit and more.
There’s a lot to be said for the tried‑and‑tested side conversion layout with rock‑and‑roll bed, but from our own experience the layout doesn’t quite work for us. We prefer a more relaxed seating and lounging area, along with a proper garage space for muddy boots, bikes, camping gear, etc.
With that in mind, this is our newest demonstrator van — built on the Electric Vivaro platform — with what we feel is a more practical layout than the standard side conversion. It’s 4‑berth with 5 travelling seats, an L‑shaped seating area (with plenty of storage underneath) that converts into a double bed, a decent‑sized kitchen unit, and a sealed‑off rear garage. It won’t suit everyone, but for us it’s the ideal small family camper and adventure van. The trade‑offs are no wardrobe (though you gain under‑seat storage) and slightly reduced floor space/entrance gap.
Being electric, it’s super cheap to run, and you get built‑in heating and air‑conditioning via climate activation on the Vauxhall app. Of course, electric isn’t perfect for every scenario — if you only toured the Scottish Highlands and NC500 it probably wouldn’t be ideal — but if you can charge your vehicle at home, then for a lot of use cases going electric makes a lot of sense.
We hope you like our new van.
