Trusted, impartial advice brought to you by the National Bed Federation (NBF). Bed Advice UK is brought to you by the National Bed Federation (NBF), the trade association for UK & Irish bed manufacturers and their component suppliers. Buying a bed from an NBF-approved member means it is safe, clean and honest. We understand how confusing it can be when you’re thinking of buying a new bed or mattress. Our Bed Buyers’ Guide is a step by step aid to help you navigate your way through the bed buying process – from identifying the telltale signs that your existing bed may be past its best to explaining the different types of products that are available, the practical steps to follow when buying your bed and how to care for your bed to ensure it lasts as long as it should. There is a comprehensive section addressing the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) about beds plus a list of useful contacts if you have specific medical concerns around your sleep. DISCOVER MORE: https://bedadvice.co.uk/

We don’t provide a complaint resolution service or inspections if you have a dispute with your bed retailer, even if your bed was manufactured by an NBF member. However, we can advise you on what next steps are available to you and provide you with relevant contact details.

Sunday is National Sleep-In Day 🌞

Who thinks they'll manage to have a lie-in?

Who's planning on pottering about to make the most of the extra hour?

✅ While it often feels like a treat to get a lie-in, especially on a weekend, keeping a consistent bedtime and wake-up routine (and having a good, comfortable bed!) is the best way to set yourself up for good sleep.

Don’t forget the clocks go back on Saturday night (Sunday at 2.00am) in the UK, and we gain an extra hour! ⏰

As nights draw in and days turn cool, autumn brings its own set of sleep challenges for those who struggle to sleep.

Here are our top tips for sleeping well once the clocks change:

🕑 Keep bedtime and wake-up times consistent – even at weekends.

🕑 Get as much natural daylight as possible, as it suppresses melatonin levels and boosts serotonin production, stabilising your mood and regulating your sleep-wake cycle.

🕑 Make sure your bed is comfortable and still supportive. Indoor furniture can be forgotten about during the lazy, hazy days of summer, but make checking that your bed is still up to scratch a priority this season.

➡️ If your bed is older than 7-10 years, it's probably time for a new one!

More tricks than treats at night?

Let’s make sure it isn't your bed causing mischief.

➡️ If you hear creaks and squeaks during the night, wake up achy, notice lumps and bumps in your mattress, and experience partner disturbance, don't live with the nightmare - it might be time to treat yourself to a new bed.

➡️ We're launching a new campaign very soon that will help you avoid being tricked when buying a bed online and distinguish between safe, clean and honest mattresses and potentially unsafe ones. Stay tuned!

Shorter days and less sunlight can disrupt your circadian rhythm during autumn and winter.

The best fix?

🔧 Wrapping up, putting on your comfortable shoes and getting outside!

✅ Today is World Mental Health Day, an ideal reminder that making time to go outside - even for 15-20 minutes - can do wonders for your mental wellbeing.

🌞 Fresh air and natural daylight can lower stress hormones and boost feel-good chemicals like serotonin and dopamine, improving your mood.

Even better if you can surround yourself with nature!

✅ Follow this with a consistent bedtime routine, and make sure your bed is still comfortable and supportive enough to sleep well.
