this latest anti-tank cube graffiti discovery is perhaps the most remarkable of all. Etched into the concrete is (a mispelt!) famous anti-fascist slogan "NO PASSARAN" alongside a cartoon-like sketch of an enemy soldier with a high collar - perhaps General Franco himself.
Could its creator have fought in the Spanish Civil War before returning home to defend Britain's coast at Tentsmuir? With volunteers from Dundee and Fife among those who travelled to Spain in the 1930s, it is certainly a possibility.
This extraordinary piece of graffiti, preserved for more than 80 years, is another glimpse into the lives, experiences and humour of the auxiliary soldiers stationed here.

Clestrain Hall was built in the 1760s and was the childhood home of arctic explorer John Rae. It is an exceptional survival of Georgian architecture and is currently being restored.
