Old Forge Furniture on Waterloo Road will be closing the doors for the last time at the end of summer 2016 after almost 50 years of successful furniture sales and restoration in the town.

The difficult decision to end the 50 year legacy was a tough one, with permanent change to
the retail and local economic environment being the deciding factor. The Pickering family would like to thank customers old and new for their much appreciated support over the years and to fellow local business owners for their friendships generated over the past 5 decades.

Founding the business in 1968 Trevor and Moira Pickering started out with a small secondhand shop on Market Street in the town which progressed quickly into french polishing andfurniture restoration. They continued to grow despite the financially uncertain periods in the
80's and 90's, providing uk manufactured solid mahogany, yew and pine furniture, polished
by Trevor or his son Daniel, in the workshop to a stable local economy. Subsequently expanding into The Old Shoeing Forge on Waterloo Road in 1993.

Sadly Trevor passed away in 2007 and the business was consolidated back to one shop
with Moira at the helm until her gradual retirement in 2010. Carrie, Dan's wife, joined the team in 2007bringing marketing, customer service, IT experience and support in the workshop.
Taking over the business at the start of the "credit crunch" provided a challenge that Dan
and Carrie rose to, reinventing the showroom and workshop services to suit the financial
climate whilst maintaining the solidity of the hand chosen furniture and true quality that only
a family business can provide.

A chance has arisen for them to relocate to the beautiful island of Anglesey to live a
more slow paced, wholesome lifestyle by the sea and understandably they've taken the
opportunity!

The exact closing date will be widely advertised towards the end of summer. In the meantime the showroom needs to be emptied of stock – come and make us sensible offer!!
