Time to bring my workshop indoors. After a long hot summer of working outdoors, this week I've decided to move things inside the old cabin that I used to live in whilst I was getting the market garden up and running. It's since been used as a dry store for my willow.
I've spent this week focusing on slowing down and refining old skills (and a few new ones), mainly due to the terrible pain of tennis elbow. It's not the basket making that hurts, it's all the little fiddly bits that seem to sell really well that's causing my repetitive strain.
ANYWAY, here are a few of the new pieces I've made this week that will be available at my upcoming Christmas Markets ✨✨✨

Let me show you how to make these cute little snails 🐌🐌🐌
One of my students first showed me how to make a snail a few years ago. Since then I've seen many iterations, but my favourite has to be Emma's from with the additional little eyes.
Emma makes some incredible pieces, which her snails always seem to find themselves getting involved in, be sure to check them out 🐌🐌🐌

Straight back into weaving after a week away in Moraira, Spain with my family. Easing myself back into it as I've got tennis elbow (probably from all the square work I've been practicing 🤣).
Lots of festive stock to be made over the next month. Wreaths, stars, Xmas trees etc...
Also, very happy to announce that I've been accepted into all of next year's Holt Sunday Markets 🙌🙌🙌

I spent last week practicing what I had learnt with and made around 5 square/ rectangular baskets, each with slightly fewer mistakes than it's predecessor. This one is the last.
Tomorrow I'm off to see .dibble.basketmaker for a 1-2-1 on squarework and scalloming to continue my learning 🙌🙌🙌

Last week I spent two fantastic days in the woods with learning squarework basketry as well as how to make and install partitions within a basket.
Peter from was a fantastic host and it was a pleasure to be amongst the bodgers and fellow weavers in such a beautiful setting.
