Well blow me down…. my business is 8 today! 🎈

How the last 8 years whizzed by so quickly I’ll never know! But you’ve kept me very busy that’s for sure!

Thank you to absolutely everyone who has supported me and commissioned me to creatively paint furniture or to redesign interiors! 🩷

So what’s next in year 9? Well let’s say it’s going to be exciting!

So here’s a question for you and I’d really love to know your thoughts….

After almost eight solid years in business and single handedly upcycling several tonnes of furniture, I’d really appreciate it if you could tell me which style of my designs that you’ve liked the best!

Maybe have a scroll through and you’ll see that every single piece of my upcycled or restored furniture is different from the last…

Has it been the geometric designs for example, or the vintage restorations with a touch of paint or the abstract designs like this chair?

Please let me know… all will be revealed soon!

Thank you!

According to my lovely clients, I was on the TV again yesterday for BBC1's Shift the Thrift! I hadn’t realised!! 🤦‍♀️

I feature in two episodes for this show as a Professional Upcycler and Furniture Artist, well that’s how Joanna Page describes me anyway!

I was given two pieces of furniture found in charity shops by the contestants. My brief was to turn the furniture around with a brand new look so they could be sold by the contestants at auction 😮‍💨

These two pieces were actually painted and completed in 48 hours.... Must be a record I think!!

Which one do you like best?

Let me know!

A little bit of The Traitors comes to Sarah Haugh Designs!

Inspired by the rich jewel tones in one of the reception rooms of Ardross Castle, the setting for BBC1’s The Traitors, I gave this once boring dining chair a dramatic makeover in teal, vibrant pink and gold. And yes, I painted the fabric and braid too!

If this chair were at The Traitors Round Table, would you banish it or let it stay? And what do you think of painting the fabric as well as the frame? I’d love to hear your verdicts in comments!

Introducing one of my last creative commissions for 2026 and what an absolute JOY it was to transform this!

This Mid Century cabinet was once dull, sad and a little bit damaged but I stripped it right down and started again! All the colours were custom mixed by myself and the hand painted design inspired by a Stone Roses album cover!

I'll post a process reel over on Instagram soon so you can see how I did it. But in the meantime, enjoy looking at a VERY cool piece of furniture! ✌️

Hello!

A little announcement!

📣 I won't be taking on any more creative furniture commissions this year! I can still pop you into my workshop diary for the new year though and we can still discuss and finalise the design before then! 🙌

🏝️ I need a bit of a rest as the last year has been full on with furniture, filming for BBC1, NEC Birmingham, Theo Paphitis Group, wholesale orders and my student intern and I haven't taken a holiday since April '25 so I'm going to take one... or maybe two! 🍹

👩‍🎨 If there is anything that you would like to learn, from prepping furniture to choosing colours and techniques, then do let me know as I plan to share what I've learnt over the years (Early '27) and offer individual creative furniture 1:1’s!

Apparently furniture isn’t enough to keep my paint brush busy….

I collected scallop shells from our local beaches here in Scotland, then cleaned, prepared and individually hand painted each one and finished them all with a hand painted gold edge ✨

They’re perfect for holding rings and little treasures, adding a pop of colour around the home, or as individual place settings for weddings, dinner parties and special events.

They’re £10 each and available to purchase. Message me if you’d love one!

Which colour would you choose?

I'm obviously very well known for painting furniture that's unwanted and unused, but did you know that I also collect the discarded scallop shells that are washed up on our shores here in North East Scotland.... 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The unwanted scallop shells are seen as waste by the fishermen who toss them away. I see them as natural products of beauty that need to be reused again!

A Mermaid's Trinket is a collection of stunning hand painted scallop shells in beautiful colours and edged in gold ✨

These beautiful shells will be available to purchase soon and I will be sharing all the different designs and colours here so you'll be the first to see them!

Perfect for gifts, table settings and of course your very own mermaid trinkets.... 🧜‍♀️

This little sewing table commission needed a lot of work!

When my client gave it to me to do I didn’t quite appreciate how neglected it was but my client wanted to save it and as you know, I’m all for that! 🙌🏼

The first job was to get rid of all of the old cobwebs and spiders!! 🕷️ Urgh, they held on fast!

Then I sanded all the wooden parts down and filled the damage as best I could. And then onto all of the moving metal parts underneath which were rusty. Sporting a very fetching pair of safety glasses, I tackled that with yet another power tool and then cleaned it all down 😷

We had previously decided on black so I used a glossy spray paint that can be used directly over rust, although I’d removed most of it!

Next the colour, and as it was left up to me, I decided to let the little vintage cotton reel that I found inside guide me! So a gorgeous green from Guild Lane was the perfect choice!

My design included an area that I wanted to restore so the history shone through and the colour worked really well with that and I simply waxed it with my own brand of furniture polish. Look at the difference!

I could say that this was one of the most neglected pieces that had been given to me over the years to do but the satisfaction of saving it from landfill overrides all the hard and quite often unpleasant work……! 🕷️🕸️

I love this piece but I still don’t like sewing! Maybe you do… let me know!

Questionnaire now closed - thank you ❤︎

Hello!

Some of you will already know that I've taken on a rather amazing Graduate from Heriot-Watt University who is helping me with the final design and manufacture of my workwear range!

Now, Eva has a bit of a questionnaire for you as we would love to know what YOU would like in the final design! ❤︎

So if you do DIY, are in the Painting and Decorating trade, have a creative business or are someone that uses paint, messy crafts, loves gardening and such like, would you please be kind enough to fill it in? It’s totally anonymous!

The link is at the bottom ⬇️

And as a thank you, you'll be automatically entered into a free draw to win a set of my designer hand painted coasters and a tin of my own brand beeswax wood polish!

Thank you! ❤︎
