My next project is a remix to the No11 improved pattern mitre plane. It will improve the improved, some things needed to be changed.

The A31 Thumb plane is one of my go to planes, and one of my best sellers. A final batch of these was made last year of which there are a few in stock.

I have always wanted to use this design, with some revision, as a base for a mitre plane. This is just coming off the drawing board.

Rare to see this mammal in the wild. Me, 20 years ago boring for the rivet sleeves on an A11 mitre plane. My objective has always been to bring precision to woodworking tools. This is a whole new craft. Metal usually behaves itself but wood behaves like a teenager.

I am using a precision mill for this application where I need to establish the true centre for each hole and then make an allowance for movement/shrinkage. I am boring the holes 5-8 thou high so that I can keep the wood tight to the bottom and no gaps should appear. You need a bit of squeeze and wriggle room
