The sun rises on Day 2 of the inaugural Crocodile Training at Rutland Sailing Club . 9 Wayfarer sailors have been spending the weekend learning new skills and honing old ones in unseasonably warm conditions! Yesterday we practised launching and landing, tacking and gybing and capsizing, and today we are working on reefing efficiently and paddling. On top of all of this we enjoyed a fantastic pub meal together last night!

Wayfarers from 9 nations gathered at Loch Lomond for the 34th Wayfarer International Rally, in Scotland for the first time. The boats could be seen coming and going from Balmaha during the week. The central area of the Loch provided wonderfully scenic sailing and great island beaches for landings and picnics. The Loch provides some tricky wind conditions for sailors but our sail leader navigated those challenges so that everyone had comfortable and enjoyable time on the water. Plenty of land-based activities were lined up for the inclement weather days that the venue was always likely to deliver which made the most of the location. The organisers would like to thank Craft Insure , Boats and Allen Sailing for their generous support.
The next Wayfarer International Rally is in September 2027 in Ontario, Canada, and is back in the UK in 2028 at Hayling Island SC.

For 2026, it was the turn of the UK to host the Wayfarer Class International Rally. This remarkable cruising event has run for 35 years, and the International Wayfarer Class Associations take turns to host.

The Wayfarer International Rally at Loch Lomond got off to a good start with a short sail across to beautiful Inchcailloch. With big winds on day 2 participants enjoyed alternative activities and regrouped for a traditional Scottish meal and dance.

Memories from June, when Wayfarers gathered for a rally in St Cast le Guildo, Brittany. The group had a wonderful time, with some brilliant sails, despite the uncertainty of the wind, and the heat. Next week sees this year's Wayfarer International Rally, held at Loch Lomond from September 5th-12th. Based in Balmaha, you will see a fleet of 25 Wayfarers out on the Loch, amongst the islands and around the shores. Come and take a look and have a chat!
