A very challenging delivery this weekend. 300 yards of twisting ,steep lane that took almost 5 hrs to achieve using thoughtfully planning and at times brute force. But well worth it after sitting the hut in its final stunning location.

Can we talk about eggs ?

Many of you will have no doubt heard about the 'egg shortages' in the supermarkets ....... it's time to shine a light on what is really going on here !

Avian flu has been blamed for the problem, and whilst it is not helping, it is by no means the cause of the issue.

What is the real problem ?

Greed.

Egg cost (feed, farm wages, transport, heating) has increased recently - just like everything else. Supermarkets are simply refusing to pay for that difference and expect our local farmers to pay for it.

That's unacceptable to farmers, so supermarkets are now importing eggs. Great move, send more British money out of the country, take revenue out of our local economy, add to environmental damage ....... all in the name of profit.

Liversidge Butchers buys it's eggs from a local farm and we do NOT have a shortage - we pay a fair price for an excellent local product only 2 miles away .
That's the way it should be done.
NB: Our eggs are no more expensive than a supermarket and we don't have the buying power that they do.

Just let that sink in for a moment - they are exploiting farmers AND their own customers.

You know what to do - support local - buy from your butcher's and farm shops and stop this greed (and the mis-placed media hype) and buy supreme quality local eggs.
