LoftRobe — More Than Storage. A Platform for the Future.
LoftRobe began with a simple idea: why lose valuable floor space to storage when the unused space above us can do the job?
The patented LoftRobe concept allows a storage unit to be housed discreetly within the ceiling or loft space and lowered into the room when required. But the physical product could be only the beginning.
As software, sensors, AI and connected-building technology are developed around the product, LoftRobe has the potential to evolve from a retractable wardrobe into an intelligent interface between the person, their possessions and the building itself.
From wardrobe to intelligent storage
Imagine asking your LoftRobe:
“What should I wear today?”
A future system could potentially consider the weather, your calendar, the clothes you own and your preferences before suggesting an outfit.
With appropriate sensors and software, it could maintain a digital inventory of clothing, footwear and possessions; help identify what is being used; provide reminders; assist with organisation; and potentially integrate with other authorised smart-home systems.
With suitable technology and user consent, future applications could extend to body measurements and sizing, environmental monitoring, energy and building data, maintenance alerts, security information and selected communications or calendar information.
The important difference is that the LoftRobe could become both a physical product and a digital platform.
One platform. Many applications.
The same retractable architecture can potentially be adapted for very different markets: wardrobes and shoe storage; drop-down offices and workstations; gaming and entertainment units; secure storage for valuables and documents; equine units for tack and riding equipment; specialist commercial storage; and appropriately designed and certified secure-storage applications.
For house builders and property owners, the opportunity could become broader still.
Instead of installing another passive cupboard, a future connected LoftRobe could potentially become one of the intelligent nodes within a building—connecting, where authorised, with sensors, environmental systems, security, maintenance and other building-management technology.
Across larger developments, that could create useful information about how buildings and spaces are actually being used, subject to appropriate privacy, cybersecurity and data-protection controls.
The bigger vision
This is where we believe the long-term potential becomes particularly interesting.
LoftRobe doesn’t have to remain simply a product that stores things. It could become a platform that understands what is being stored, interacts with the person using it and communicates with the building around it.
The physical LoftRobe provides the infrastructure.
Software could provide the intelligence.
Sensors could provide information.
AI could help interpret that information.
Cloud or edge technology could allow authorised services to connect securely.
And the resulting platform could potentially serve homeowners, house builders, landlords, property managers, hotels, offices, equestrian facilities and other specialist markets.
Some of these capabilities are future development opportunities rather than functions available in the product today. Their implementation would depend on engineering, software development, testing, certification, cybersecurity, privacy and commercial partnerships.
But that is precisely what makes the opportunity exciting:
We didn’t just create somewhere new to put a wardrobe.
We created a new piece of usable space within the building.
Now the question is:
What else can we make that space do?
