This is a 2400x700mm rectangular Carrara table top that we have manufactured for a recent order with a Straight Edge Profile.

🌎WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY🌎

In 2022, HND invested £70k in solar panels on top of our factory, for making stone table tops. This generates nearly twice the electricity that we use. We wanted to make a serious indent in our carbon footprint and this makes a big contribution.

We then reviewed the materials that we supply and the footprint on some of these surprised us. Natural stones are between 0.058 CO2 kg/kg to 0.087 CO2 kg/kg. Ceramics/Porcelains/Sintered materials are 0.74 CO2 kg/kg.

Ceramics are nearly 10 times the CO2 per m2 than natural stone.

Ethical Question: Should we be keen to use these man made materials if we can supply natural stones such as quartzites and marbles with a much lower footprint?
