Led by historian Ivane Javakhishvili in the late 1930s, this research expedition across the regions of Georgia compiled oral histories from locals detailing construction techniques, furniture making, and various other traditional crafts and agricultural customs.

Within this historical research, we came across a small detail — one that eventually became our logo.

Architect Ramaz Kiknadze’s contribution to this research stems from his ongoing study of lost Georgian building methods. With a dedication to preserving this heritage, he has worked to locate, digitize, and share these and other foundational texts with a wider, modern audience

The wooden elements for the exhibition Tbilisi – Risingland were crafted by Kao Furniture, together with students from the workshop.

The exhibition explores the geological and historical depths of Tbilisi’s landscape through three-dimensional handmade models, including an orthogonal model of the city with amplified verticality that creates an intensified perspective, and a model of Metekhi Cliff that investigates the interior structure of the city’s elevations.

The project also includes silicone negatives, photographs, and two panels. One panel presents the development of the isohypse drawing used to construct the orthogonal model at a reduced scale, composed of 1131 isolines. The other features full-page spreads from L’Ottava Vita (per Brilka) by Nino Haratischvili, responding to the project’s central theme — a dialogue between architecture and literature.
