‘Herluf Trolles Gade’, a serene stone white, echoes Wool’s signature brand colour grey-beige, while ‘Ancoats’, a rich industrial green, recalls our Hong Kong’s classic dark green – a quiet nod to the city where Wool began.

Design Destination — Hidden within Kyoto’s historic Shimogyo Ward, Toune is a 120-year-old traditional machiya townhouse restored by Tokyo-based designer KEIJI ASHIZAWA DESIGN into a private retreat. The restoration honours the house’s original character – from its raised entrance and stone-lined passage to the dramatic double-height hibukuro – while introducing a modern touch through refined wooden lighting and furniture.

A neutral colour palette of white and dark brown hues complements the aging patina of wood, plaster, stone and washi paper, and the iconic lighting from Santa & Cole extend that softness into a warm, ambient glow after dark, creating an intimate dialogue between light, shadow and heritage.  A compelling Kyoto destination for those drawn to architecture and the beauty of thoughtful restoration.
