If AI keeps getting better at coding, at some point we’ll need fewer software developers. At least that’s where a lot of predictions and hot takes end up.

But that’s not how our software engineer Andrej Radomiljac sees it.

He thinks AI will make individual engineers capable of doing much more than they could before, including work outside their main area of expertise.

That’s also why he thinks deep specialisation will continue to matter.

Someone who has spent years working in a specific area still has a level of understanding that AI doesn’t simply give to everyone.
