Here's the 6th and last tip in the series Talking to your kids about the Coronavirus.
Should my child get the vaccine? At present, WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines are not recommended for anyone under the age of 16-18 years (depending on the individual vaccine), even if they belong to a high-risk group. Children were not included in the initial trials for COVID-19 vaccines, so there is currently limited or no data on the safety or efficacy of vaccines for children below the age of 16.
We hope this series has helped you address your child's concerns during these trying times. Do keep an eye out for further tips from Unicef as the covid situation evolves.

Talking to your kids about the Coronavirus #5
Stick to a routine: You can help your children cope with the stress by making opportunities for them to play and relax, when possible. School might have been shut down so it's up to you to keep your kid's day structured. Create and stick to schedules for meal time, study, play and sleep-time.

Talking to your kids about the Coronavirus #4
Offer Reassurance: Tell them you are always there for them. If they are too little, don't isolate them; keep them near you but take all precautions so you don't fall ill. Sometimes, it doesn't harm to pretend you are in the same boat so they do not feel alone.

The coronavirus is raging all around us with no signs of abating and this time, it hasn't spared our children too. No doubt both parents and the young ones are anxious and perhaps on the edge.
So, over the next few days, Team UMU will share a few things UNICEF recommends we do to take special care of our little ones during these trying times. We sincerely hope you and your kids remain safe and healthy in the days ahead of us.
