At Chester’s, upholstery has always been a primary marker of our craft. A classic silhouette can take on a lighter, more playful character when reimagined in different materials, offering a new context to its design language. It is a subtle shift, but one that renews how the piece is experienced, allowing it to feel quietly contemporary.

One of our special designs, the Lord, has returned to us for re-dyeing. Finished in a cool Shadow Ocean Blue, the process unfolded over three days, with multiple layers applied by hand by our master dyer, Latha.
Working patiently to restore depth and character to the leather, the piece is gently renewed, extending its life while retaining the quiet marks of time that make it its own.

As the days grow warmer, our Objet line feels light and grounded in natural materials. Made with reclaimed mahogany and Burma teak sourced from the Chettinad regions of Tamil Nadu, and upholstered in a breathable French twill linen, the collection brings together a sense of grounding to the space. These pieces sit lightly within a space, offering comfort without weight.

With a Chesterfield back and upholstered in fabric, Alyssa is one of our most versatile styles. Rooted in classical European design, it balances structure with ease; deep buttoning lending character, while its generous seat and gentle proportions make it equally suited for reading corners, living rooms, or quieter, in-between spaces.

A project by Darshini for Maddock Films. Rather than a conventional boardroom, the space was designed as a series of lounges where creatives exchange ideas comfortably. Furnished with Chester’s sofas and armchairs, the pieces come together to create seating where conversations flow naturally.

A behind the scene moment with , our creative director, directing a photoshoot centred around our ottomans; pieces that often play a quiet yet important role in a room. Whether used as a footrest, an extra seat, or a subtle accent, an ottoman brings both comfort and balance to a space. Moments like these allow us to thoughtfully consider how these smaller forms sit within an interior, ensuring they carry the same presence and craftsmanship as our larger pieces.

Brass tacking has always been an essential detail in our work, considered carefully from the very beginning of the design. These moments mark the finishing stage of our Diva. Each brass nail is placed and hammered by hand with quiet precision, outlining the form while adding a subtle character. It is a slow, deliberate process, one that reflects the patience and craftsmanship behind every Chester’s piece.

A day spent with Latha, our master dyer, exploring the traditional craft of leather dyeing through a more contemporary lens.

Working by hand, she experimented with a palette of brighter colours. An exploration that feels fresh while staying rooted in time-honoured technique.

A late 1700s design, a Chesterfield has played a significant role in traditional and stately spaces of today. The romance of a true traditional Chesterfield design lies within the lived in nature of the piece. These principles are usually guided by the nature of the leather, the general embrace of wear and tear by the owner.
