IKEA is now developing and modifying designs to make sure furniture is recycleable and lasts longer. The entire concept they are thinking on is based on the question: “What’s the shelf life of your furniture?”. How long does your furniture last before it’s ready to throw away/discard?

We at One&Only have been asking ourselves the same questions since the beginning:

“How long can our furniture last?”

“How do we create and design it and use the right materials so that it lasts really long and can be passed on, so that it can be reused by future generations?”

“How can we ensure that it doesn’t even need to be refinished and repolished for a longer length of time and still keep looking new?”

We have been able to achieve it by using the best quality wood and other finishing materials so that out furniture is solid, sturdy and lasts long, in addition to be being aesthetically pleasing and beautifully designed, to add warmth and luxury to the owner for many years.

We appreciate our friends at IKEA for this shift of mindset and applaud their initiative for a better world. 👏

Our hope is that more manufacturers and brands think about the environment and what our industry takes from it, and find ways to ensure minimal damage to it, in addition to giving back by planting trees.
