Sankara Furniture Design

A few days ago I was watching the precision and tradition of Wimbledon. Today, I'm standing in a country where nature has been refining its craft for millions of years.

Iceland doesn't try to impress you. It simply exists. With black volcanic rock, quiet waterfalls, endless moss-covered lava fields and light that changes every few minutes. There is almost no ornamentation, yet everything feels intentional.

It reminded me that great design isn't about adding more. It's about knowing what to leave untouched.

The textures here aren't manufactured. The colour palette isn't curated. Yet every landscape feels perfectly balanced. Every contrast has purpose.

As designers, we often search for inspiration in objects. This trip reminded me to look beyond them… to landscapes, materials, silence and light.

The best spaces don't compete for attention. They create a feeling that stays with you long after you've left.

Perhaps that's what we're really trying to build at Sankara.

Not furniture that fills a room.

But pieces that belong in it.

Tomorrow; our team takes a pause from creating timeless spaces to invest in something equally important… clarity, balance and mindful living.

We look forward to welcoming the Art of Living Foundation to Sankara.
