We design buildings, interior spaces and furniture that are contemporary, with a nod to the past, with craft interpreted by modern fabrication techniques.

Studio Hinge was founded in 2014 by Pravir Sethi, with over twelve years of experience in architecture and design, having studied, taught and worked with some of the top names in the field in Mumbai and London. Good design, to us, is like a clever bit of storytelling. It is contextual, has a narrative, can be witty, moving, or both. It evolves, evokes, revealing new turns at every telling. We beli

A flourishing ecosystem of frogs, fish, swans - and a structure that hovers quietly above it.

Set within a rare greenfield site in the heart of Mumbai, Salsette 27 was never meant to be built the usual way.
These illustrations imagine the project as it was intended: touching the earth lightly, weaving through foliage, amongst birds and butterflies.

Instead of a typical 2000 sq.ft. show flat, a compact footprint was lifted on slender steel columns - preserving the land below, and reflecting the life around It.

An architecture that appears and disappears, depending on where you stand - and how closely you look.

What if a sales office didn’t erase the very thing that made the site special?

The Butterfly Blob is our proposal for a show flat that hovers above a rare green pocket in Mumbai-home to frogs, swans, and mature trees. Instead of flattening the land to fit a structure, we reimagined the brief entirely: a compact 700 sq. ft. projection-based walkthrough, elevated on slender columns to preserve the existing ecosystem.

Clad in mirrored timber fins, the pavilion dissolves into its surroundings-sometimes visible, sometimes not-like a butterfly between leaves. This isn’t just architecture, it’s restraint. A light touch in a city that rarely allows for it.

A study in materiality, light, and spatial composition-each of these bathrooms is meticulously designed to balance function with quiet precision. From seamless monolithic surfaces to bespoke details that enhance everyday rituals, these spaces are built to be immersive and tactile. The interplay of textures, light, and carefully articulated elements transforms them beyond utility, making each an experience in itself.

Inside 1407 Aston: A Workspace Where Design Meets Identity

Bringing together Saffron Strings, Brandit, and Emerald, this 2200 sq. ft. workspace in Andheri, Mumbai, is a seamless blend of openness, privacy, and brand storytelling. The challenge was to create a unified office while maintaining the distinct identities of each company.

A central breakout space encourages interaction, while brand colors subtly weave through the flooring, walls, and upholstery, reinforcing individuality within a cohesive environment. Translucent, curved partitions introduce a sense of fluidity-allowing light to filter through while defining private zones with a weightless, sculptural presence. These details, paired with an industrial yet refined material palette, create a workspace that feels both dynamic and intentional.

Every design element works in harmony to create an office that is flexible, inspiring, and reflective of the businesses it houses. Located in Andheri, Mumbai,
1407 Aston is a testament to the power of design in shaping workspaces that are both efficient and expressive.

All about The Blu House - a Mumbai apartment renovation where architectural constraints became design opportunities.

Nestled in Worli, this 1500 sq. ft. residence reimagines modern living through thoughtful materiality, innovative spatial solutions, and emotive design interventions. From rounded entrance paneling that softens structural rigidity to a reinvented central column that transforms into functional seating, every detail is meticulously crafted to enhance both form and function.

Fluid curves, elegant arches, and a play of textures define the interiors-where a faux-verandah in the master bedroom recreates a sense of openness, and sliding doors in the guest room expand space to invite light deeper into the home.

New project alert: The Blu House

The Blu House gets its name from the particular quality of light we found here in the in between times – at dawn and dusk, but also from the name of the apartment building it is located in (Mumbai people will have guessed this one by now!). The full height glass curtain wall to the exterior plays some part in this. A constraining structural layout presented challenges but – as you will see - we converted these to opportunities. Stay tuned as we draw back the curtain.
