▶️The World Federation of Deaf celebrated the International Day of the deaf for the first day in 1958.

▶️Later, the day was extended to a week to commemorate the first world Congress of the World Federation of deaf and became International Week of the Deaf (IWD).

▶️The IWD is celebrated in the last week of September; hence this month is also celebrated as Dead awareness month.

▶️The International Day of Sign Languages (IDSL) is also celebrated on the 23rd of September.

▶️International Deaf Awareness month is celebrated to:

-This motivates the communities to learn sign languages to facilitate communication with deaf people.
-Promote the human rights of deaf people.
-Bring positive changes in society and make it more inclusive for deaf people.

▶️Deaf communities worldwide participate in various deaf awareness activities this month. The main stakeholders of these awareness activities and events are:
-Professional sign language interpreters
-National and federal governments
-Families of deaf people
-Human rights organizations
-Deaf people who overcome this disability and achieve big
-General public

The history of languages is as old as human civilization, but many remain isolated, undocumented and get extinct. With the invention of the wheel, human migration started, and the importance of language increased. At present, 7000 languages are spoken around the world.
