‘Vadodara By foot’ (વડોદરા પગે ચાલી ને।) is an initiative to promote Art, Culture and Heritage. Thus contributing to Government’s Digital India Initiative.

It is taken up as a part of CSR activity of GACL Education Society (GES) which is a CSR Arm of Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) in association with Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC). A workshop was conducted on 11th March, 2020 jointly by GACL Education Society, Vadodara Smart City Development Ltd and Alps Leisure Holidays.
As Cultural Heritage Tourism is a branch of tourism oriented towards the cultural heritage of the location where the tourism is occuring.
It was indeed a wonderful event and great efforts by the team of Alps Leisure Holidays and by Shri Rajendra Shah for providing brief information about the beautiful city Vadodara.

If you have ever driven around Vadodara, you may have felt that to enjoy the rich heritage you need to start exploring. How can we miss our beautiful University in Vadodara??

The Maharaja Sayajirao University is considered as an architectural marvel, the building was designed by Mr. R.F. Chislom who had virtually reinvented the glory of the city. Initially known as Baroda College, the building is known for its dome which is the second tallest dome of the country.

The M.S.University Photography Heritage Walk supported by GACL Education Society in the event "Kaafila 2020". Annual Fest of Faculty of Journalism and Communication. The registered participants were from different colleges and universities. The walk had been led by Mr. Jay Makwana from History of Vadodara initiative and volunteers coordinated excellently for the walk and the event as well. Many places and History is unknown among students about the university.

Today on 12th February, 2020 the workshop was conducted at Central Library, Vadodara, also Sarkarwada Heritage Walk in co-operation with Mr. Rajendra Shah and Mr. Srinivas Solapurkar Wherein, students from Faculty of Journalism and Communication and Faculty of Arts participated for the same. Few representatives from Tours and Travels were present as well.
Further, also received few requests for becoming volunteers for this initiative for promoting Art, Culture, and Heritage.

There is no age group for becoming a volunteer for this initiative. Anyone interested can definitely share the details in the comment box.

Established on 1 November 1906, Shri Sayaji High School was the first high school to be established in the old city area. It was originally started in a house near Sadhana Talkies lane near Nyay Mandir as the 'Grant in Aid High School' by Shri Hirabhai Jethabhai Majumdar.

Located near Sureshwar Desai's lane, it dates back to around 300 years back, where people here used to earn with floor mills in their resident. Majority of houses in this area had flour mill & so the name Ghanti Wada & then Ghantiyada became popular!

Located near Mandvi Gate just opposite the Sarkar Wada, is the 209-year-old vitthal Mandir. It was constructed in the late 1860s, and houses the idols of Lord Vithoba, with his two Wifes Satyabhamadevi and Rukmanidevi.
