From time immemorial we have developed an emotional attachment to green leaves and coolness that trees give to your eyes and to your mind but,We forget the price that we pay for this pleasant feeling. Trees with green leaves provide a huge surface area for water evaporation and it's deep roots suck the water from earth below. During rainy season the trees barely contribute to any water storage but immediately after the rains the pilferage of water starts. Even if 10% of the land is reserved for 10 Meter deep well , the water storage will be capable of accumulating enough rainwater for the entire season. Even a huge deluge of rainfall exceeding 300 mm in a day will not be able to fill these wells and flood our homes. The wells are thus perfect and sure guarantee against floods and droughts.

On the contrary the cost of planting and the cost of water lost could often be justified only if the trees are fruit bearing and have requisite commercial value. We have reverence for cows as a gratitude to the services provided by them earlier but we can not keep on extending it if we have to survive and, if we want our cattle to survive and even the wild life in forests to survive.
